A Dream Deferred

I’m running out of ways to make myself, music and talent known. I know I have what it takes, but I constantly feel like I’m trapped in a city where no one cares if it doesn’t benefit them. Does anybody else feel like this? Like you have so much greatness instilled in you, just to be looked over because you don’t have 24k+ followers, and/or 100k streams? And I hate social media. It makes my anxiety worse, bc I know deep down inside every one is competing against each other. Especially the people from my city. And everything is either shadow banned or not reaching other people because I don’t have a million followers.

I make really great music. I don’t sound local. I’m fine as hell. I have stage presence. My pen game is A1, not only that but I actually study music and how to write in a way that captures the listener. But because I’m “local” and in a small town, with 1400 followers no one takes me serious.

At what point do I meet that person who has the potential to put me in those rooms where I belong? Because let’s face it, people don’t make it without that say so from someone else who’s already in those rooms.

Don’t get me wrong, I have support. From people close to me, people I don’t know, and some who only know me from online but I feel so burnt out because I feel stagnant without the extra machine behind me. Being famous is not the goal, but my art reaching the heights it deserves definitely is because with every song I record I can feel me getting better and sounding more mainstream.

Sometimes I be thinking about traveling and going into different radio stations like “LISTEN TO ME!” “I deserve to be on this radio!” “What y’all play on here is trash give me a shot!!!” But fr.

Does anyone make music in my friends list who feels the same? What are some marketing tactics you use to reach a broader audience? Write your thoughts in the comments I’ll check them out when I can.
