RIP Dolly Parton

I’m not going to come on here and pretend I was some massive fan who always listened to her (like many did with Oliver Tree), but I will tell you this: when I was in the fifth grade I wanted to give up on reading and drawing. I thought I’d never be good enough. But then, thanks to her reading program, I discovered art books and books about people just like me that inspired me to keep going. I’ll miss the day I watched her in Hannah Montana, or NBC, or even just heard Jolene on the radio of a long car trip and thought “wow she’s an independent and successful woman, does that mean I can be too?”. And thought I’m not even sure if I want to be called a woman anymore, I’ll always be a feminist and I truly believe that Dolly Parton played a part in that, and there will be no one like her. Her legacy will live on though. Thank you for a wonderful 82 years Dolly.
