Book recs?

Hello!! I am looking to read more books, because I think I would benefit from that. I really like dystopian fiction stuff, like 1984. I am really interested in finding books that portray darker psychological experiences, analogies, etc. Just stuff that shows realistic depictions on different mindsets. I am super duper into reading psychological fiction books, especially when they’re creepy and/or disturbing. But please keep in mind that I can’t handle super graphic physical stuff. Like g0re and explicit s3x stuff.

edit: I DEEPLY appreciate all the suggestions so far!!!! thank you guysss <3

It's not dystopian, but in terms of psychological, you may want to check out The Stranger by Albert Camus- its a moody novel originally written in French about a man detached from life.
In terms of dystopian, you may enjoy Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn- it's a bit of a lighthearted take on dystopian censorship where letters of the alphabet are slowly banned from the language of an isolated island (and from the writing of the novel itself), with some stuff reminiscent of the newspeak from 1984.

stereotypical but AMAZING books:
Margaret Atwood's the handmaid's tale AND the testaments (the latter of which can be read on its own and is less explicit), ALL of the hunger game books (especially the ballad of songbirds and snakes), i remember the uglies trilogy being good, the giver, Fahrenheit 451, i could go on

i also recommend MANY a short story. they get dissed on for not being as long of a read, but can be just as if not more interesting than full-length books, and with your particular genre and limitations you would have far more luck there. it's hard to find books without graphics in the genre youre looking for because more often than not things like normalized violence are what MAKES a dystopia.

some of my recommendations are absolutely probably going to push those boundaries a bit (especially handmaid's tale. again, the testaments in my experience are less graphic) but its important to read books that play with what we're comfortable with sometimes too. but there are also definitely less graphic books in there too :]
