My experience

Let's say this is a part 2 to my previous blog about how life has been lately and I got to say that I'm so grateful to be out of my job. It's been three weeks since they welcomed me with a "denied" contract and I could't be happier.

Now that I'm fully out of that cycle I understand how toxic it was and I'd like to talk about my whole experience inside this company.

It all started 2 years ago when I was desperately looking for a job. My parents were putting a lot of pressure on me for not wanting to go to university and all I could think of was getting a job so I didn't have to listen to how disappointed they were (I actually did try university but well, I'll talk about it in another post if anyone cares but I think a lot of you will relate to it).

back then my idea was simple: write the curriculum, send it to everyone and everything. Well it wasn't a good idea. Every ad for job had requirements, specific one such as bachelor which I did not have so I started feeling very out of place, depressed and I quickly lost hope, thinking that no one would've here hired me because of it.

I decided to contact a employement agency and pray that they would find something for me by sending my cv to whatever they wanted. I waited a year and no one emailed or called me.

I was seriously going to give up but one day, out of boredom I went out to buy myself some manga and I found an adv of an arcade that was going to open soon. The adv was cool, they needed a team and people who wanted to create something big and have fun. That's what I wanted.

I sent them my cv and after a couple of weeks I got a call. That day everything changed for me.

I started working on August 1st 2025 and I can't even put into words how good it felt to feel worth of something, to have people teaching you things, looking out for you, helping you out when you are overwhelmed. I wasn't working in my hometown but in a big city. Big city meant, lots of people, tourists and more money (for the company).

At the end of August of the same year I was transferrend alongside 12 other people to start a new arcade in my hometown. I was happy of course, what's better than enjoying your job and working 5 minutes away from the mall. Things didn't go well from the very beginning and the more I look back the more I see how things were unstable, wrong and superficial but back then I didn't care.

My job consisted in welcoming clients, helping them get the card to play, help them play, subscribe and guide them through the games. Simple.

Whithin a month I alone, was assigned to take of birthday parties and it wasn't easy at all. It was very stressful for me but I took with pride because they chose me to do it and I was grateful. Birthdays were a lot, sometimes 5 a day and I was alone back there with 10-20 kids. I was the one who had to clean the tables and set them sometimes even in less than 30 minutes.

At that time I started feeling frustrated because my older coworkers (they weren't managers but they had resposability over me and my coworkers. They took care of the money and were supposed to make sure that we did our job corretly, something they never did) because they were not helping and they were showing zero interest towards what I had to deal with alone for 6+ hours straight.

That's where they started making my work even harder.

I will continue this later thanks if you read it until here :)
