just finished the Spider-Man: Miles Morales game!!! (+ a quick review!)

this was supposed to be a bulletin, but it got long enough for me to make it a blog post hihi :) so excuse the messy writing!! i didn't plan this beforehand like the others 😅

i played the first game a couple of years back on my PS4 and i absolutely loved it. finally decided to give Miles Morales a try and while the story is Super short and some crucial boss fights are really glitchy i actually super enjoyed it. i loved how simple the story is. it felt good for spider-man to just feel like he's just a Friendly Neighborhood hero. the first game is LEAGUES better tho, but that's Peter Parker we're talking about.

my favorite thing about it would be the combat. it's super easy (i had it on max difficulty and it was still way too easy), but it's still very satisfying. swinging around Harlem is just as fun as in the first game, best experienced with some music playing in the background. although, i missed seeing some color since all we get in this game is the winter backdrop, as opposed to the first game which spanned almost a full year and included a variety of seasons. 

unfortunately, the game isn't perfect... here are a few caveats i have with it:

1. Miles has all the skills you unlock as Peter in the first game, which means you start the game fully decked out and adding onto that with venom powers. playing the first game on the hardest difficulty felt a little more challenging whereas in Miles Morales, it feels like the only way to play if you don't want to mow through every enemy you meet. 
2. side quests are now started through a menu ingame unlike in the first game where you just stumble upon them randomly. i prefer how the first game implemented these becuz it made the city feel more alive. 
3. one of my favorite things to do in the previous game was to collect all the suits, but in this game there's such a small variety of suits. i don't mind a shorter story, but a bigger collection of suits would be really nice! i understand tho since Miles just doesn't have as many suit designs as Peter (and the modding community has been doing a great job adding extra suits anyway). 
4. lastly, as i mentioned before, the boss fights glitch out really often!!! i've had my camera randomly fly through walls and sequences completely freeze. like in one fight with Rhino, he just stood there doing nothing and i had to restart 😭

if i had to rate it, i'd give it ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 stars!! super fun if you want a game you can kick back and relax to and fulfill your superhero fantasies. i think it does a good job of being what it needs to be! minus one star mostly cuz of the glitches and the difficulty being way too easy :)

anyway, like all story games, i'm still going to 100% it by getting all the collectibles and beating all the challenges!!
