The Greatest Movie Of All Time is Literally Available on Tubi for Free (Strawberry Mansion)

"Out of my hair and into my home-- to enter, you must lick the ice cream cone."

During high-school, I took several introductory film classes where I was introduced to some great movies, both foundational and iconic along with new, stranger films. 

This is one of the stranger ones. 

Strawberry Mansion was released in 2021, with a budget of $200,000 (the average movie budget is around $65 million, for comparison), which was used almost entirely on its practical effects. The titular Strawberry Mansion is actually a dollhouse composited in post, a pipe cleaner becomes a caterpillar, and a snowstorm is really just flour being blown around on a windy night. And its beautiful. 

The plot is dreamy and surreal. In the distant year of 2035, dreams are now taxed, and it is the job of Prebble (who is played by co-writer and co-director Kentucker Audley) to audit the dreams of Arabella Isadora (Penny Fuller), an elderly woman who has refused to update to the modern tech of dream monitoring. Exploring her dreams, he begins to fall in love with the version of her he meets in her dreams, her younger self (Grace Glowicki). 

With the help of Bella, Prebble learns of a great conspiracy-- dreams aren't just being taxed, they're being controlled by major corporations to advertise their products. 

But, that's only the first half of the movie. The rest? I'll leave for you to find out. 

The soundtrack, done by Dan Deacon is ethereal and ambient, with rising, epic synths and choral undertones. If I was able to get my embed working correctly, some of it should be playing now.
