So... ya ever heard of Figura? Since I can't hear your response im going to assume you said no :3 Well in simple Figura is a really cool Minecraft mod that allows you to customise your player avatar to pretty much anything you want!
And the best part is its all client sided so anyone else with the mod installed can see youra vatar! Its super fun!
Ok so what have you been doing then?
So after finding out about Figura through watching CallMeCarson's SMPOnline streams I thought to myself "Hey I would love to make a silly model!". And thus started my fun and interesting dive into Figura. And I would love to share what I have been upto with it with you all! ^-^

A rocky beginning...
So... turns out im a silly muffinhead! I am used to using Blockbench and had it already installed when I started learning Figura. However, I didnt know about the compatiability issues, so after about 30 minutes of wondering why after saving changes in Blockbench caused the avatar to completely break, I finally did some research and found Figura requires an older version of the software to work...
Yeah im a dummy Just a heads up to anyone wanting to work with Figura, disable auto updates and downgrade Blockbench to 4.12.6 |
Starting off... dancing?
Ok so I know this sounds super strange but after realising you can setup emotes using the Figura wheel I decided it would be a funny idea to remake the classic "Get Down (Geddan)" meme with my character.
So hours of tedious animating, a ton of lag from my computer not liking 1000 keyframes and 2 headaches later... I had finished the strange emote... and then realised it goes way over the 100kb upload limit that Figura allows. Not to worry though as without the audio file the emote only sits at a still rather questionable 29kb! (At least its better than the originals 288kb size :p) See video of emote here! |

The glorious -haj!
Ok now onto my actual Figura model!
And what model is complete without a Blåhaj?! Throw the cape and elytra aside, all I need is my cute lil -haj friend :3 Oh yeah I also added a tail so I finally have one in 3D :3 And the best part is the blahaj also has some functionality, it idle-y wiggles its tail, it swims besides me when I swim and the best thing... Remember when I said I threw the elytra aside, well I forgot to mention that my Blåhaj is a magical flying Blåhaj! Who needs that stinky boring elytra when you can just fly around on the back of your -haj! |
Animation... is not my strongsuit...
So... you can overwrite vanilla animations... The moment I heard this my mind went racing! Despite not being super great with animating I can still do some small silly things, like making my tail move up and down when im running, or... making my sleep animtion pose be a bit more... Seth MacFarlane inspired
Yeah so what originally was a toggleable emote on the action wheel I turned into my sleeping animation, got some very fun laughs from this one :3 I also made a few silly emotes that can be accessed all from my action wheel. Again I did say im not great at animating so for now the only emotes I have are simple things like T-Pose, handstands, rotating my head permenantly to show the derp face that lies under my chin. Oh and a personal favourite of mine "Praise the item!" which allows me to gloriously hold up the item im holding for all the world to see! :3 |

Some extra accessories!
Of course I wasnt just going to stop at the Blåhaj and tail, I had to add more silly accessories to my avatar! Started with a Mini character that sits on my head, just vibin' swaying to and fro and occasionally waves or spins their head... like an owl?
Yeah im not sure why I did it like that either hehe Now on another note, most of us use some form of zoom mod, SpyGlasses are cool but so under appreciated due to everyone just hitting C... Well at least for me not anymore! You can see when im zooming in now with the help of a little mechanical flying SpyGlass that comes out and hovers right infront of me, finally zoom mods make logical sence! Of course I couldnt just make it float, it needed something to make it fly, so due to my love of the Create mod, I decided to give it 2 small propellers that keep it afloat! Isn't that cool! |
Some last finishing touches!
With the action wheel I setup an easy way to toggle through all the different outfits I have without needing to relog ever :3
See video of emote wheel in action here!
Did some tweaking like the sounds, colouring and even added a couple small animations for when im typing and talking. And yes I sampled the voice sound from Isabelle from Animal Crossing :p Its a cute voice dont judge me pls and ty :3
See video of talking animations here!
Final notes:
Learning Figura has been a fun and interesting experience! Granted it forced me to learn LUA which was a headache in itself, Why oh why does indexing start at 1 I don't get it! But its also gotten me back into doing silly things with Blockbench and animation.
I plan to keep messing around and hopefully I'll keep yall updated on what weird things I make, in the meantime go download the figura mod and try it out for yourself! Oh btw I also turned my player head into a small plushie of myself! |

I need to show my little brother this lol he loves Minecraft and is interested in developing stuff on Minecraft and Roblox
Ooh hope they like it and my silly creations can inspire them in some way, figura is such a fun mod to tinker with and like Roblox makes use of a fairly easy to learn scripting language. If they do end up trying it out I wish them luck! ^-^
