I saw the eclipse last wednesday and it was so cool! the last one visible in the netherlands was in 1999 and honestly I don't really have memories of that, and the next one will be in 2081, so this was my only chance! it was so cool to see this thing with my own eyes, and enjoy this phenomenon with my friends c: the moon covered the sun around 90% but eventhough it wasn't a full eclipse it was impressive either way.
it was really lovely to see all sorts of people come together for it, too. everyone was excited! I made a camera obscura from a shoebox as well to share with people who didn't have the special glasses, and it was just lovely to share excitement with others who were equally enthused about this celestial event.

and then, because the perseid meteor shower was that same night, weΒ woke up at 3am to watch some shooting stars! the sky was really clear and we could see so many stars. even the milkyway was quite visible which I didnβt expect. we ended up seeing a lot of shooting stars, with someΒ whose tails lingered for a couple of seconds. it was - eventhough I was deliriously tired - a really lovely night. watching the stars always makes me feel humble, and lying on the ground looking for shooting stars feels like that's one of the things that life's all about.

yeah it was very cool!! where do you live? bc it was mostly visible in west europe. spain got the full coverage of the eclipse, we in the netherlands got around 90%
