heyy for my first blog entry I just wanted to share an easy diy/recipe for the summer:
Liden trees are native to europe, asia, and parts of nothern america, and while the dried flowers are often enjoyed as tea, I only found out recently you could brew the dried fruits into a coffee alternative.
Taste:
Taste wise has a very mild coffee flavour with little bitterness and a nice popcorn like smell,
I do think the subtle flavour is better enjoyed with a little milk and sugar. Also fully caffeine free :)
Recipe:
You'll want to gather about a cup and a half of linden fruits for around a week of daily coffee, you can harvest them between mid july and september, just pluck off the little bead like fruits from the branches (they'll have a wood like texture) and make sure to pluck off the stems.
Then clean the fruits and dry them well.
After that place them in a pan with no oil for around 15 minutes or until they're brown and fragrant, the should not smell burnt but might emit a little smoke towards the end.
Then just create a powder with the roasted fruits, using either a blender or a mortar and pestle and use like you would with ground coffee. Be careful with storage as it does spoil faster than coffee.
Hope you'll enjoy my recipe, have a nice day!!
