Technology can be beautiful, cant it?

I feel like we often get so caught up in the idea that technology can be bad.

Don't get me wrong, tech has definitely had a detrimental impact on a lot of aspects of society. However, I find that there are so many incredible benefits to tech that we don't fully appreciate. 

I was watching The Cranberries' Tiny Desk concert and had the realization that technology allows us to glimpse into the past. It's honestly kind of a time machine if you think about it. The Tiny Desk video was posted to youtube in 2012 and immortalizes the beautiful voice of Dolores O'Riordan. However, not only does it offer us the ability to hear her voice, it allows us to see her physical form and appreciate her artistic and performative qualities in action. It hits hard when you think about the fact that O'Riordan passed away in 2018. We've been granted the ability to watch her performance(s) in perpeturity. Thus, she lives on. Not to say that without technology she wouldn't have had left an impact. Because, of course, she would have left a tremendous impact on the world either way. But we are able to see her in action in a way that many of those who have passed before the age of technology have not been granted. We may know about stars like Jenny Lind, the singer who once toured with P.T. Barnum, and we have images of her, but there is no recordings of her performances, either video or audio. We, as a modern audience will never be able to experience her talent for ourselves. 

Basically what I'm trying to say with this rant is that we shouldn't take for granted the gift that is technology. We can admit it has it's faults and that there are detrimental impacts that arise from it's use. But, there are so many beautiful moments that are able to be preserved for us in format never available before in history.
