Hazbin Hotel Is Not For Everyone

I think we can all argee Hazbin Hotel isn't the best show, but that doesn't mean it's a bad show.

Hazbin Hotel gets a lot of hate & criticism online & I truly believe that the people that don't like Hazbin Hotel simply aren't the audience for that kind of show (shocker, I know). It's good to try out new shows but some people hate on the show just because. (Those people probably get their opinions influenced by Tik Tok let's be honest)

On this website I have read a few blogs, some good some bad. One person said they didn't like the color palette, that the characters look emo & bad and the writting is bad. 

Obviously not everyone will like the Hazbin Hotel artstyle & designs but to hate on the show just because you don't like the look of the characters & use it as criticism is wild. You can't just say "I don't like how that looks" & think that is valid point. The color palette is definitely A LOT & they even pointed that out in the show but that's what makes Hazbin stand out. 

Also the colors are used very specifically, like red was used for season one with Charlie starting her hotel, Charlie & Lucifer talking again, Lucifer/Alastor helping with the hotel & in general seaon one was about getting introduced to the hotel and main cast as well ass the concept of the whole show and the relationship Hell & Heaven have. Season two is blue, it's about Vox & him taking the opportunity of the sinners being scared take over heaven. It let's Vox be in the light & we even find out a bit more about his past with Alastor. The next season is green & purple, probably focusing on Alastor more (green) and Lilith returning (purple). 

About the writting, it's no secret that both Hazbin Hotel & Helluvaboss have consistency problems. Hazbin has eight (8) episodes per season & they are really trying to move the plot forward each episode. So the episodes seem fast pace & you feel like you are missing out on a lot of detail. That is valid criticism, but at this point Hazbin is less about the plot and more about the world building & characters. Any Hazbin Hotel theory & fan talk is usuall about what if? and will *insert character* do that in the next season?... ya know what I mean.

Some people have problems with how much they curse in the show, I don't know if you noticed but they are in LITERAL HELL & have to either fight in tarrif wars or sell their soul to have some kind of power & purpose. It's just a writting quirk the Hellaverse has & Hazbin is not a goody christian show so I think it's okay that they curse.

Obviously there is also the point people make with the sex jokes. The show does explore abuse, specifically sexual abuse with Angel Dust & they do treat his abusive relationship with Valentino seriously. But also Angel Dust is one of those characters that does tell a lot of sex jokes. We know he does it to fit into his character, and maybe even cope in a way. I mean when we see the REAL Angel Dust, he is usually quite emotional and shows us a side of him that actually wants to become better. A scene that I feel like the show definitely glazed over was in season two. We all know that one scene where it is clearly implicated that Vox made Alastor watch him & Valentino have inercourse, before he got dressed & dragged Alastor with him as he did his monolog. That was clearly SA and not a lot of people mention it, neither does the show acknowledge it in any kind of way. (Maybe S3 but that isn't likely to happen)

Valentino is also a character that makes a lot of  sex jokes, he is literally the overlord of lust and his power revolves around just that. We see him in a different light in season two, especially around Vox, he genuienly cares for his partners. Talking about Valentino, people thought that Valentino getting a vunerable moment and being "humanized" means Vizipop is a supporter of rape & abuse. Valentino showing humanity IS what makes him scary, it reminds us that abusers are just as human as the victims and that's  fucking terrifying. 

People also complained about the songs. It's not everyone's cup of tea and that's okay, but most songs are catchy & we have to remember an actual music producer is behind every song, working with the Hazbin Hotel cast which many were on broadway might I add. 

Hazbin Hotel isn't for the people that want to watch a "good" show, it's for those that grew up as the weird kid. For those that made oc's with ears and a tail. For those that listened to nightcore, played gacha life & maybe even grew up with Monster High. Hazbin is for the people that can identify themselves with a character, that acknowledge the bad but are satisfied with the good.

I like Hazbin Hotel because it's my kinda thing. I like the world building & characters. The concept of your appearance in hell/heaven being influenced by your live choices, sin & cause of death. It's unique & nothing like anything I have seen before. My best friend & I share a lot of intrests and media we enjoy, so when she recommanded it to me, of course I watched it. And well I guess I am just weird like that, because I do really like Hazbin Hotel (& Helluva).

I guess moral of the story, just watch what you want, be aware that maybe a certain show wasn't really made for you & if you want to hate on a show, at least bring up good points.
