The "I love you" dilemma // general relationship talk

TLDR; say it whenever tf you want, there is no such thing as "too early" or "too late", whoever thought of that wasn't loved as a child and also there's no such thing as a "3 month rule".

Now, I know this might sound silly, but hear me out. Everybody always makes it sound like a simple "I love you" is on par with finishing a completionist playthrough of a game. Which is lame, if you ask me. Stuff like this shouldn't have such societal pressure put on it, I think it's stupid that we have these so-called "dating standards" which hinder any relationship a "lost cause" if you do or say the wrong thing.

The first time I looked into dating advice, I was shocked to find out how different my previous relationship was compared to the textbook "perfect" definition of one. I mean, who the hell actually believes this "talking stage", "honeymoon phase" or "3 month rule" bs?? If you like someone and imagine a future with them, just do what your heart tells you to do goddammit

Anyways, feel free to argue otherwise, just don't send me death threats :P

I think the words "I love you" should definitely be said more often- just not carelessly. I think we can all agree that telling our friends we love them more often is a net plus, but I have to disagree with it on the romantic front. Saying it too soon, say... a few weeks into knowing someone simply cannot come across as genuine because you still know very little about that person. People often only show you things about themselves that they want you to see- and anything deeper than that cannot be hatched in a few weeks.
