Personally, as a metalhead and someone involved in the emo subculture, I'm an atheist, and I have no intention of becoming religious. But I want to know if you can be religious and a part of a subculture or 'alternative'. For example, being Christian and following the bible. I know that parts of the bible go against a lot of alternative morals, such as equality, Ephesians 5:22, "Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord." And LGBTQ+ rights: Leviticus 18:22ย ("Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable"). Also, a lot of catholic organizations have decades of systemic child sexual abuse and are detestable against women.
Can you be 'alt' and still be religious?
