FRIENDREWIND IS AI SLOP

Everything, every single feature, every pop up, most of the text, it's all AI. All of it was written entirely by AI.

First off, the sourcecode. AI. Littered throughout the sourcecode are comments, already a trademark for AI usage, especially when the code isn't shared between a team. This is a solo project! You don't write disclaimers everywhere in your own code. Every single page the same few massive chunks of code pasted, when it would be a lot easier to just refer to a .js file. Which none of the pages do. None of them call for anything, actually, not even css, which is really strange. Its all on a single massive block of code. All of them are 5000+ lines. The profile settings page alone is 7000+ lines. Profile settings. Thats crazy. For reference, the page im making this blog on, the create blog entry page, the source code is only 212 lines, and only has one comment.

Other stuff is pasted in randomly to the code too, like, a second <head>? A second <doctype=HTML>? Theres no sense of naming schemes anywhere. Every line of code is written cleanly, perfect formatting, no mistakes, sometimes with nice little comments to explain every part of it, and then its shoved into some mess of unorganized spaghetti ai amalgamate.

Don't even get me started on the styling, the styling is what screams AI the most to me, without even considering all the ai slop vomit you find underneath it. Everything seems fine and cohesive up until you click anywhere off of the homepage and you're hit with jank formatting shoved in the middle, sometimes with margins, matched with gradients and drop shadows that don't get used anywhere else, randomly placed round edges, ease-of-use features that dont appear on any other page, transitions and animations that don't appear on any other page despite being used on the same element, different fonts, different designs as a whole. There is no cohesion at all. I mean, thats not too abnormal for small indie-web sites, but the styles being used aren't quirky or fun or anything, they're all aiming for a professional feel, all corporate. Almooost like they were just mashed together by someone who didn't actually put the time into designing each one...

And then, all of the features. They're great, but according to the rules page ("Effective: May 16, 2025") FriendRewind is just over a year old, more or less. In a year, D3fect and D3fect alone (this is a solo project, mind you) planned, coded, tested, bug fixed, and implemented each and every one of these features:

The base website with all webmaster, web traffic, privacy and security functionalities and protocols
All of the fundamental features you'd expect on a MySpace clone (profiles, bulletins, notifications, blogs, messages, new users, browse, forums, all of it)
Customizable background and colors on the homepage that syncs to all other pages, with collapsable sections
Several theme presets for the homepage customization
A now-playing music bar that syncs across all pages
A queue/playlist nested inside the music bar
A 600 mb image gallery ("Gallery") available from the more dropdown fit with 500+ preloaded images with permalink functionality to use as layout assets organized in color coded folders, allowing you to upload your own image assets and create new corresponding folders
A visual layout builder with preset avatar animations, custom cursors, overlay, a selection of preset fonts, quick color/opacity/background edits, and a seperate pop-out-able tab for advanced CSS, and an image gallery pop up for quick image selection, synced with the main image gallery
A tutorial for the visual layout builder that appears as both its own individual page and a pop-up available from the visual layout builder page itself
A unique page for each group with the same layout and functionalities of a discord server, including channels, categories, reactions, replies, reports, gifs, emojis, stickers, invite links with use limits and custom expirations, search, pinned messages, audit log, bans, a collapsable members sidepanel, voice chats, mute, deafen, scalable output volume on call members, along with a private moderator chat, server stats, a unique screen-sharing specific channel, a unique realtime watch-party specific channel, a unique media grid channel, a unique wall channel for individual text posts, and the ability to clear the chat history of every channel.
A pop-up update status panel synced with the status feed on your homepage
A photos page where you can upload, store, and organize your photos into albums (This is not the gallery and is not synced up with the gallery). Fit with an overview tab, an albums tab, an all photos tab, an upload photo tab, a second all albums tab, an individual albums page where you can edit the title, description, and privacy, a second all photos tab, and a create new album tab
A layouts page where you and other users can upload layouts created through the visual layout builder, search for layouts sorted by several preset categories and keywords, and favorite layouts
A profile elements page where you and other users can upload custom html and css for smaller profile elements, search for profile elements by several categories (these ones you can create your own categories), filters, and keywords, and favorite profile elements
A premade layout popup on the edit profile page to quickly change your layout
Auto-embedding content in the bio section of your profile, supporting Youtube, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Spotify, CodePen projects, Dailymotion videos, TikTok videos, Vimeo videos, Twitter tweets, and Twitch clips.
Quick profile visibility toggles allowing you to show/hide the music player, mutual friends, photos section, and videos section
About me info including your age, country, and state/region, that can be used as a search filter in the browse
A pop-up custom blinkie maker with over 300 blinkie presets with permalink functionality
A music tab that opens a music pop-up where you can search by name or genre, filtering by songs, albums, or artists, for music to play in the music player or add to your queue or public playlist, where the played music will then render a procedurally generated visual in the header of the pop-up and in the header of all other pages, with the ability to randomly generate new visuals by clicking "next visual". You can pop out the visuals in full screen by going through the music tab. It also features a radio tab where you can search for a live radio station by name, rating, popularity, genre, and country
A video tab that functions as its own video based social media, featuring hashtags, leaderboards, likes, viewcounts, search, random video, a page to view all of your videos, liked videos, and saved videos, a video of the week, a share to bulletin functionality, embed functionality, download video functionality, a share video button that copies the link, a second copy link button, report functionality, a recommendations algorithm, a not interested button, private videos, a video recorder through the camera with color filters, beauty filters, flash, speed edits, three video-length presets, custom sounds (similar to TikTok, but theres no sounds available, and you cant upload any, its broken), and custom effects (Coming soon?).
I had to split paragraphs for this one. A video EDITOR, with a multi-layered timeline, lockable layers, the ability to import audio, images, and video, the ability to input video straight from the camera, the ability to import media from your phone through a unique QR code or a link, column configuration for your imported media in the sidebar (Coming soon?), audio through the sounds catelog (Broken, again), text with a large assortment of preset fonts, visual styles, colors, and animations, along with a text-specific layers panel to view and delete all your text elements, preset filters, speed presets and a custom speed slider, speed fade-in-out curves, a toggle for maintaining audio pitch, video reversing, 20 visual effects, a section to view all your active visual effects (even though you can only select one), stickers (but only the emojis and shapes work, the stickers and gifs are "Coming soon" again), along with a search for sticker functionality (broken), and a sticker layer section to view and delete all your stickers, color adjustments, an audio mixer with fx plugins (fx plugins are "Coming soon"), transitions, 6 transitions (broken, transitions don't work), and a video preview where you can move, rotate, scale elements, and play your video. You can upload a custom thumbnail from the video frames or your files (broken, thumbnail doesnt save), zoom in/out of the timeline, and add new layers/tracks to the timeline (broken, added tracks are jank and unusable). (The entire video editor is broken, because you can't publish the video.)
An in-browser games tab, featuring uno, Tamagotchi, Paint, that one windows 98 browser replica, the blinkie maker, and a nested neocities clone with every single functionality of Neocities. All of them, its a complete clone. (file uploading is broken). You can view all sites created by users on FriendRewind. There's also a page, not linked anywhere, https://f-r.space, fit with a use policy (broken, leads no where), and a link back to the learn section, complete with 5 pages of coding tutorials.
An artists tab, where you can search for music artists registered on FriendRewind, sorted by popularity, popularity, or number of tracks, with genres and or keywords.
Unique artist profiles, where if you register as an artist, your profile contains a playable discography, a subscribe functionality, and play statistics
Bulletins with a saving and draft functionality, where you can restore your saved drafts
A bug report page with a detailed submit form and a "my reports" tab where you can close the report with a note, or add a comment
A uniquely styled report abuse pop-up (reports submitted here do not show in the "my reports" tab)
A brand and press kit tab where you can download the logo, download the logo (duplicate), app icon (incorrect image), or favicon (incorrect image), copy the hex codes for the brand colors, view the typography, find the usage guidelines, and contact an email specific for press and media inqueries
An invite tab where you can copy the link to FriendRewind or share it to Facebook, Messenger, Twitter, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord (just copies the link), Reddit, Instagram (just copies the link), Threads (just copies the link), TikTok (just copies the link), Snapchat (just copies the link), Truth Social (just copies the link), or email
A downloads tab, where you can install FriendRewind (?)
A page specifically for your friends status updates
A friend activity with filters and an admin updates toggle on the homepage
"Profile tunes" playlist on your profile
A unique invite to group pop-up
A friends list page where you can search for your friends by name or sort them by date friended, time last online, or alphabetically
Not to mention, the set up for the vast amount of server cloud storage and data streaming required for the video, gallery, photos, custom websites, i mean, like, all of it. That's a lot.

I won't even suggest the possibility that D3fect coded all of this himself in a year time. With every other sign pointing to AI from its visual appearance, to the written text, to the sourcecode, there's not a chance in hell that it's anything but AI.

It's kinda hard to take this accusation seriously when others have straight up made things up in an attempt to make another site war. I understand the buzz around FriendRewind is pretty obnoxious, but making allegations without any kind of proof isn't going to fix that. I've been on FriendRewind for a few weeks, and it looks like it's cut from the same cloth as SpaceHey. SpaceHey I know uses an open source code to make MySpace clones[Napo uses the same base code.] It's possible for FriendRewind to be out within a year, since all that was added was a few new features and a new coat of paint. The overall base of the site was already made years ago. BTW if you have an issue with AI slop, you probably shouldn't be using SpaceHey. The creator, An, has been called out recently[with actual proof] to have used GenAI for another project, so he is a supporter of AI, and SpaceHey uses an AI moderation. As for the alleged vibecoding, those online checkers are notoriously inaccurate. I used a few of them, and even used SpaceHey's code as a reference, and both of them got pretty similar scores. Again, take it with a grain of salt. All I was asking was for some screenshots.
