The Grey Morals of AI?

I’ve seen an over reliance on AI recently on everything from drive thru fast food chains using it for people ordering a simple meal, people trying to pay a bill and a non human representative taking care of issues for people, to even an app I frequently use NoPlace (or those that remember it as SpaceHey). That hasn’t updated in months dealing with a lot of tech issues only for the creator to come out and promote a new separate AI chatbot called “REMY”. 

Now the reason why this is called the grey morals of ai is due to the fact I personally believe AI isn’t either good or evil but a tool on how and what its intention are used for. Example, AI has been a tool for over 20 years or possibly more the way the internet used to be and how search engines back then would use this AI tool that would recommend your search results or a tool that has been used in animation from dreamworks and Pixar. But as of recently has been used to gather data for algorithm, trends and unfortunately slop. Or some cases apps using it as a way to gather information of its user base and try to sell their information or the user a product they don’t want. Or as some of you may have personally known someone use it for school rotting their brain (Chat GPT). There’s also the whole YouTube thing and other sites using it to moderate their sites and wrongfully getting rid of or terminating content creators and their works. Example Rebeltaxi recently lost his demonetization because youtube’s AI was used to take down channels or remove their monetization thinking his channel was for kids due to him talking about all things animation, but won’t go after AI slop videos.

AI can be used for good such as a way to help people gather information on a subject they’re studying for, to cross reference notes, to help edit a video or animation tool, or even proof read an essay to make sure there are no spelling mistakes. But unfortunately it has been used for Italian brainrot, Slop content, an evil tool to take advantage of the elderly or tech illiterate to be scammed and give their money and valuable information to disgusting scammers, and the worst offense destroying the environment.

Now do I believe AI is evil? Simple answer No. The explained version, No because it’s just a program that has no free will or conscious. Do I believe it’s good? No. Because it has no morals or a soul but can be used for good when people with good heart, character and morals can use it.

AI is morally Grey because in the end it’s a tool used depending on a person and their intent. Just a random person on the internet wandering around the online cosmos letting my thoughts roam around due to the fact this started because of NoPlace and their new app they are trying to promote when they already have an app with potential that needs to be fixed and touched up a bit.
