manga casualties from water damage

lost a couple volumes of manga due to my own negligence! sad! had to do a little bit of a moving together with a special somebody and it was raining the whole day where we started packing. i was feeling pretty good about my efforts packing getting nearly everything (outside of miscellaneous this and that) neat before the ride arrived. unpacking uncovered that the front of the trailer in actuality leaked some rain inside, getting just neatly into the banana boxes that i had my manga collection in! i was quite tired after all the work that day and off 3 different monster energy drink i thought the best thing to do would be to get them submerged in rice (like the electronics trick). that might've destroyed some even more but thankfully we had a drying rack which we filled with the books. never thought i'd see that to be done anywhere before then. long story short; 3 volumes destroyed and binned, a dozen or so a little warped and a few pretty much mint. use cling film on the boxes to avoid this fate people! don't trust the equipment nor the weather!
