"I can't read"

Okay let's be real how many ppl are actually, truly illiterate when they say shit like that, and how many are actually just trying to be quirky/cute/lazy/unburdened/whatever they think it makes them? You can't really be here or know what here even is if it were true, not to mention how are you meant to express your 8000 fandoms if you can't read to identify them or write to speak of them? Sure there's accessibility menu TTS crap if you really want to play devils advocate but I still smell a waft of shit in the air. I feel strongly that selective dyslexia/some regression thing is afoot where you can relinquish responsibility in life by stonewalling it all with "I can't read that and if I feel I'm forced to try, I'll evade with some kind of illness you can neither prove nor disprove in this setting! Take THAT, responsibility!" I mean I'm full of shit too, my room isn't clean fully and my project is not getting done today, it'll be a miracle if I lock in enough to start it. I'm just pondering shit like always...

the literacy crisis is SOO bad. My mom teaches high school English (freshmen) and a good majority of her students read at around a 2nd grade level. I also see grown ass adults making simple mistakes like "to" instead of "too" or "your" instead of "you're". like bro you are 40 years old.

yeah poor literacy sure but I'm saying that there are a good quantity of larpers who could fix their comprehension level in a matter of like a month or so, as opposed to truly illiterate people who just simply wont ever and probably cant ever learn for one reason or another. I have doubts that illiteracy of that kind is even possible with a phone in everyone's hand, like surely you learn enough just from those interactions over enough years to get by I think?
