WELCOME TO THE UNFILTERED SIDE OF PSYCHOLOGY

If you had told me four years ago that I’d be here with a diploma in my hand, freshly minted Psychology degree under my belt, and trying to navigate my own life’s downhill spiral, I probably would have cited a statistic (that I literally just research for the heck of it) about post-grad transition stress and called it a day.

Yet…here we are.

I will be starting this blog space/series to break down mental health, human behavior, and life from a very real, unfiltered perspective: a fresh psych graduate who is currently experiencing her life crumble bit by bit.

Throughout my degree, I learned a lot about human behavior, neurological pathways, cognitive distortions, and therapeutic frameworks. But stepping  out of the lecture room and into the “real world” taught me a completely different lesson: there is a massive gap between studying mental health on paper and actually surviving it in practice.

In my upcoming posts, I will be diving into a few main themes:

  • What my psychology degree didn’t prepare me for. Where I would be talking about the  textbook theories I learned and how it actually fared in real life and what are the things that my degree did not teach me when it comes to facing my own struggles.

  • My personal mental health journey. Where I will be talking about me going through downhill season, burnout, rebuilding, and coping with the everyday messiness of my life.

  • Coping Mechanisms. Where I will be talking about a mix of psychological tools and real-world methods and will be exploring what actually helped me when I am in the trenches versus what just sounds nice and cool in the lecture hall.

  • And many more as we progress day by day

Of course, I am NOT posting here as an expert speaking down on anyone. I am writing as someone walking through the storm in my own life, using the tools I’ve learned to make sense of the noise while discovering new ones along the way. Although I hold a degree in Psychology. I am simply a recent graduate navigating my wn life challenges and personal struggles. I am still learning, growing and figuring things out every single day, but I will do my best to share accurate, honest, and insights based on what I know.

Sounds interesting! I'll try to follow along. It's always interesting to me what are the differences between studies and real life cases. I think that it being completely different is a common topic across all trades, at least happens in mine too.
