I'm moving away from home in only 7 weeks now. I guess the birds gotta leave the nest at some point.
The classes my advisor wants me to take are all filled up. Way to go college for having me register for classes AFTER a month and a half wait to see an advisor and by that time everything is filled up.
I met my roommate at this (pointless) mandatory college orientation. She was very sweet and nice which was a great relief. And gorgeous. The kind of pretty that takes your words away for a moment when you first meet them.
I think I have most my dorm stuff (I hope). I gotta figure out how to move for the first time in my entire life. All my posters are coming with me. I know my mom says she was all adult and married by the time she was my age but hey, I love my posters, action figures and childhood memorabilia, okay?
I wish I hadn't gone to college sometimes. I'm tired of it. I wish community college could last all 4 years. Everyone who goes there isn't going their to further themselves in some social hierarchy continued on from high school. My lab partners might be a kid my age, a 35 year old parent and a senior citizen going back to school again. And we're all there to just fucking learn and go home. We get along great. It's really a beautiful thing.
Now I'll be in a 4 year university with shitheads just looking to get to the top of the food chain. Not to be pessimistic or cynical. I'm a glass half full person, truly. But I'm tired and school is drawing nearer. I just don't know how I should feel.
