Camping Trip to Palomar Mtn!! :3

I came home yesterday afternoon from a 2 night stay at Palomar mountain. I decided to go on this trip with my boyfriend as a suprise for his birthday :) He had been talking about wanting to go camping lately and we've never gone together, so why not for his birthday. It was a nice break from the heat, it's been in the 90s for the past few weeks. But up in the mountain, it was in the mid 70s to 80s. It was the sweet spot where it wasn't too cold or hot.

Here is a list of my favorite things we did:

1. Made french toast for breakfast each day. I saw a post recently about making french toast batter and putting it in a jar to use for camping, and I did just that. It was SOOOO good. Except for when the syrup spilled in the dry food bag lol.

2. Reading in the hammock!! My bf and I both brought a book. He brought "Friends, Lovers, and the Big, Terrible Thing" (Matthew Perry's book) and I brought "I'm Glad My Mom Died" by Jeannette McCurdy. I got this book for Christmas 2025 and had gotten about halfway through it over the course of the year. But I read so much of it on this trip. I borrowed a hammock from my future mother-in-law and I was in that thing very often. I continued reading on the car ride home and finished it after we unpacked. I highly recommend it, especially if you grew up on iCarly.

3. Went on an evening walk. Our campsite was a 30 second walk from a short trail. We went down it around an hour before sunset. We didn't walk very far but it was beautiful. It was hard to believe how green everything was. I also learned from the bulletin board at the trailhead that the mountain had been cleaned and worked on starting about 30 years ago since it was in bad shape. The campground was so clean so I wonder what it looked like in the 90s and before.

I had a super fun time and can't wait to camp again. I filmed a lot of our trip on my camera, and I'm glad to have gotten some new home video footage lol. I had a lot of laughs with my bf and it was cute to see him being all outdoorsy. That's all!!
