The Double Standards We Live In

For the most part, society is deeply hypocritical, and you can see it everywhere—whether it's online or in everyday life. Take, for example, the phrase people love to throw around on the internet: "bring back bullying." People usually say it just to fit in or as a joke, completely ignoring the fact that many of them were victims of bullying themselves. They use the exact same verbal violence that once hurt them just to feel accepted by the crowd.

We also see this in the values and rules we’re told to follow, like "taking responsibility for your actions." Whenever something goes wrong, people’s first instinct is usually to point fingers and blame someone else (not everyone is like this, but a lot of people are). Everyone sells you this false illusion that you have to be responsible, mature, emotionally intelligent, loyal, humble, and helpful to others—yet those same people rarely practice what they preach.

A perfect example of this is the church. They tell you that tithing is mandatory to be a true believer, using the excuse that "you must leave material things behind," but they end up keeping the very money you hand over. Religious leaders often preach sermons about humility and values, but they don't live by them. Churches are decorated with gold and luxury, yet that same money used for decorations should be going to the poor or homeless children. Religious people are quick to criticize homosexuality under the excuse that "God only created man and woman," when God accepts and loves everyone regardless of their flaws.

In the end, society is full of people wearing masks, demanding virtues from others that they aren't willing to practice themselves.
