The developing process (almost done)

In class, we used black and white paper with a semi-matte finish (like Ilford).

We worked in a darkroom under red light with the photo paper, because that was the only place where we could cut the paper and load it into the camera. 

To develop it, we submerged the paper in the developer for 1 minute and 30 seconds, then a stop bath (water) for 30 seconds, then into the fixer for 2 minutes, and finally, a water rinse to clean off the chemicals.

A super important detail: when you develop the photo paper from a pinhole camera, what you get is a negative. They don't come out as a "positive" photograph right away.

To get the final photo just like we see it, you need to do an extra process called positive printing.

 There are different ways to do this; the easiest way would be scanning the image and inverting the colors digitally. What I did in class was a different process known as contact printing (which is the method I used in some of my negatives).
