Will Gen Z ever be able to rest?

For a while now, I’ve noticed a pattern; every generation has their big 5 - their fashion, their big “omg what government lies to us huuuuh” awakening, their technological/practical novelty, their new subcultures, and their timeless pop star. So far, the Gen Z has only had the three; the awakening (which, omg, I think I preferred when yall were slowpokes because most of y’all are SO insufferable about it and only acting as the gov’s puppets but in cute shein clothes and making Israel jokes at anything you dislike, do better, seriously), the fashion (2020s scenecore), and our cuteful pinkpantheress as the timeless music icon.

We however have went through ALL stages of misery and a bit more and we’re just 20.

Our spermhood? 9/11

Our babyhood? 2008 recession, no new toys for us

Our teenagehood? COVID; deadass spending 2 years like our parents did during the war while we were TWELVE.

Our early adolescence? AI is frying everyone’s brains into being hateful machines without a single original thought and also teaching them to stop socialising because AI can always be your friend or partner and you don’t EVER have to like a single human again, you can tell them all to k*ll themselves with zero consequence, how fun!

Our adolescence? Well, Americans have it the worst with the water shortages from AI, flocks, ICE, and whatever the shit Trump is doing, but us Europeans also got our share of chat control, abortion bans, living spaces costing millions and no one being able to afford anything.

Oh, and let’s not forget - you want to go on a trip? Awesome! 

America? War

Ukraine? War

Dubai? War

South Korea? War

Anywhere near Palestine? War

Poland? Bomb recoil from the attacks on Ukraine (and I KNOW because I live here)

And if you wanna go ANYWHERE that doesn’t have a war…with what? You barely earn enough to get yourself Doritos and a month of Amazon Prime while living in your parents apartment; no one can afford SHIT!! oh, and let’s not forget the initiative to stop CD games.

Worst part? People are leaning into it. People prefer to hate each other over the most minuscule bullshit; someone drinking coke, someone getting Starbucks, someone listening to an artist you don’t like, etc., instead of uniting against the big corps and old men in suits eating away our tax dollars, yall prefer to stand with them and hate the ones like you and then have a surprised pikachu when they keep making our world worse. When I think something will actually change? 2030-ish. Mark my words; y’all can be hateful and dumb for only so long. We’ll all collectively decide that we have enough of 6769$$$ worth of monthly subscription services and go back to rental movies, that we have enough of digital games, and someone will start a only-physical business that will dominate the markets, that we have enough of social media propaganda and move to sites like this one and vampirefreaks, and we will have everything frutiger aero sunshines and rainbows etc etc

Just…Man, please stop hoping that all of the bad people will just die in one day and everything will fix on its own; be the change, not the hate.
