lucky star almost gave me a virus

sooo basically i recently watched and finished lucky star since my goal this summer is 2 actually finish some media i've lowk been larping 😭😭 and i rlly enjoyed it !!! (it of course had it's weird moments but it's old and a product of it's time so i honestly just tried 2 ignore it and pretend it wasn't there.... KONATA'S DAD I'M LOOKING AT U STAY TF AWAY FROM THOSE HIGH SCHOOLERS.) 

so since i finished it i've been consuming a lot of fan content, which led me 2 the lucky star visual novel Lucky Star: Ryōō Gakuen Ōtōsai for the PSP and it's fan translation that was recently updated !!!! i thought, omg a fan translation let me try and download !!! it's not my first time emulating a game since i love playing style savvy so i thought why not just try, so i download the jp version of the game and everything seems 2 be going fine, there's no windows defenders warning even, but it's not translated yet so let me follow the guide!!!! i run the jp rom of the game through a patcher and my whole computer crashes. i think oh the game is pretty big it prob overloaded the patcher!!!!! so i try a different way of patching it and it seems to work !! i'm playing the game for like an hour before i feel tired and i shut it off to watch a youtube vid to fall asleep 2

i go up to get a snack while i'm watching and i hear the windows sound on my laptop from the kitchen, i think ok hopefully it's nothing it's prolly nothing.... (i'm alr very anxious naturally and one of my biggest fears is getting hacked so i'm on edge, especially considering i once got my discord hacked from 'borrowing' all sims 4 dlcs......) 

so i go back 2 my laptop and it says windows explorer error private on my lock screen, which freaks me tf OUTTTTT but i try to ignore it and i hear the windows sound again. i check my laptop and it doesn't say anything so i'm stressed and i immediately run a full virus check where it finds nothing

so i go to sleep and the next day i see there was another error so i check task log and i see that my laptop was being told 2 shut down or smth along those lines???? but it was rejected so i IMMEDIATELY delete the game, even the psp emulator, run another virus check to make sure i'm safe and check my files :p

moral of the story i guess is maybe don't download the lucky star visual novel and just watch playthroughs lol
