"By the sea, Mr. Todd, that's the life I covet,
By the sea, Mr. Todd, oh, I know you'd love it!"
- Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney Todd
It is not often I find myself in agreement with Victorian women that bake people into pies, but Mrs. Lovett sure had it right when she declared a life by the sea would be one worth coveting. In fact I would go further and say it would be a lovely existence indeed to be in the water itself for a lifetime. Though despite the self-assured manner in which I utter these words, I have in fact had my first swim of this summer only this past Sunday. But God, it was heavenly. Especially in the scorching heat. And what was better yet than the water itself were the people in it. It was my first time going to the sea with friends of mine, through entirely public transport nonethless. And though the road back lasted nearly four hours after the bus wouldn't move a single centimeter because of three consecutive car crashes just after I had commented on how lovely I thought it was that we had encountered no problems at all that day and jinxed it (please, do hire me if you wish to cast a hex of misfortune upon someone), our fourty minute walk to the metro afterwards was anything but excruciating due to the fact that for once in my life I had decided to wear sensible shoes that day and had people around me that I geniunely enjoy the company of... An arrangement I would recommend to all.
Oh, and going for a swim. That too, for sure.
