to rot is to want.
to rot is to yearn.
to rot is to long for.
Romantic or platonic wanting, yearning, and longing all leave the soul filled with dread. Is a split second of warmth and reassurance after finally getting them able to make up for the days, weeks, months, or even years of pain and struggle you endured waiting for a response? does it suddenly make losing yourself to the depths of your mind all better? does it make changing who you are to get said response all worth it? a response, a touch, a kiss, acceptance. was it worth it? no matter how much you change, no matter how you try oh so desperately to convince yourself it was worth it, that it was all you ever wanted, at the end of the day when you are rotting six feet under the maggots will taste the sweet aftertaste of the truth underneath all the misery, the cuts, the burns, the lies, the wanting, the yearning, and the longing.
