Our Yule

First, I know, I've lost the Sabbat blog post alliteration. Second, I have to admit, even though it was only a month ago, my memories of Yule are a little fuzzy. M and I had only been home from the hospital for a week, and we were still very tired. That being said, I do remember having a warm, cozy time.

In the morning I lit chime candles of all the right colors, burned cinnamon incense, and put some cider on the stove. If it's a cold holiday, you best believe the witches are mulling cider and brewing soups. I mulled this cider with whole spices, cranberry and orange slices. It was good that night, but after than it tasted too much like orange rind for M. XD More for me!

The nice thing about being the only pagans in our families is that M and I get to have Yule (basically our Christmas, for those who don't know) together, and then Christmas with our families. We can exchange our gifts to each other in peace. M gave me a super cute manga and I gave them a masculine sweater. I was a little nervous about it, because it was different from everything else they had. My mother and I actually spent a good 20 minutes comparing it to another sweater before I chose. M has lots of nice feminine clothes, and they mentioned wishing they had more masculine sweaters. The color was a risk, but M loved it and wore it to the family Christmas.

After gifts and dinner we each did our own little meditations and settled down for an early night. I think we watched "Happiest Season" and then all the holiday baking shows. I was just happy to have M home with me. There was a period in the hospital when we thought I may have to go home and back to work, while they stayed there.

It may not sound like the witchiest Yule, but a big part of the holiday is waiting for the return of light. And my light was already home.
