K-pop culture and Inclusion

I put this under music but it goes a little deeper than just songs or music. 

I love K-pop and have been listening to it since I was in middle school, but I never really knew how deep it went until I got to college. 

Of course here in America there are similar things with our celebrities and artists but K-Pop stans are INFAMOUS for their stan game. 

For the almost a year I've been listening to a group called tripleS and I LOVE them. Their music and concept are amazing and until now all I did was listen to their songs. 

But recently, as I'm in a K-pop dance club at my university, I've decided to get into the culture of K-pop a bit more and maybe even learn some Korean on the side, behind Spanish of course. 

So joining the tripleS discord I introduced myself as being new and such and I noticed that everyone was in the middle of ranking each of the members. 

I've forgotten to mention that if you don't know tripleS, there are 24 members. 

No I'm not kidding.

Google them. 

But I noticed the rankings and once I introduced myself they were asking for my rankings. 

Personally it's always been hard for me to pick one bias in any group because I feel guilty just liking one member when the entire team puts in so much effort toward the group. Much less a group with 20+ members. 

Not to mention I didn't know a single one of their names or anything about them. 

So one of the fans sent me some links to a variety show they were all in to help you learn more about them and their names. 

The more I learn about the members and how fans can interact with the community, it gets me more interested in where this all came from. 

And more so, why people enjoy it. 

The idea of sharing your love for an artist or performer so much that you dedicate time and money to have merchandise of them and keep up with their lives. 

Now of course this isn't completely closed off to just K-pop groups you can do this with any artist, but K-pop has created and molded it's own culture around this concept. 

Coming together with music and community and support for a group just makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside I don't know. 

And it's nice, being a part of a community just for your shared interest and music or for your favorite star in the group. 

It's brought a sense of togetherness and inclusion I've really been looking for lately and I'm sure in this day and age a lot of people could agree, especially in my 20's.
