"Pure Evil" characters

is it me i get pissed everytime ppl say "i want a pure evil character and no sad backstory to justify their actions" ok cuz apparently sad backstories are supposed to justify actions, no its noT. what the fuck is wrong with you. no one just lives and be 100% evil all the sudden. every hidden motive always has a reason. no it does NOT justify anything but it explains why. its supposed to make you understand not just fully empathize a terrible person. people dont do bad things for no reason. literally where havr you seen that . Even a terrible person who's motif is being an abuser or assaulter, theres backstory to that. Yes its wrong, they're WRONG but abuse or even sexual assault, that are actions that either come from neglect mental issues and many other things.

its like saying i justify my groomer and abusers just because i know they too suffered from trauma too to act that way...no tf i still hate them for what they did but i just understand them.  idk why people think liking a "problematic" character is immiedatley justifying their actions, that or people think putting a backstory immiedately means the creator wants to justify the abuse the character did. bcs if ur looking for a "pure villain pure evil" character, ur making an unrealistic one dimensional stereotype that ACTUALLY harms people.

actions like that being seen as just "cartoon evil" things are harmful stereotypes because people will think that anything remotely similar to that is PURE evil in real life too. Which is very terrible for people who have issues like NPD, ASPD, and many other trauma or disorders that causes them to be that way. Disorders are already demonized as it is as "pure evil" so the more people group every bad action that way will cause more harm.

Yk, the 7 deadly sins are honestly just caused by how people are raised in this world, and its all inevitable and i can go on forever about this. people hate it when characters are more than just their hero villain stereotype. infact this applied to people too because everyone is complex!

literally idc if u think someone is all nice or all bad, everything has its own yin or yang. making flawed characters without justifying their actions is basicly just writing realistically bcs art, writing, ect. is a form of creativity to show on how humans think. And humans arent fucknig 100% villains, some people were just raised wrong, treated wrong, or was influenced by others. even people i hate the most in the world, i can perfectly psychoanalyze and reason them even if i want them dead 6 ft in the ground

I love both complex villains and "pure evil" villains, and I don't see how so many people can't see that both types have their own ways of adding entertainment to their story. Different stories serve different purposes, so obviously not all characters are going to have the same level of complexity across all of fiction. "Complexity" is not a synonym for "good" or "interesting," it's a neutral descriptor. And the same goes for "pure evil," "cartoonish" villains. Whether or not the character works depends on the story itself and how well they serve their purpose within it.

I guess, my point is, both are good. It just depends on how they're used.

Okay i do agree about this. you have a fair point. Although I based my whole point around how some people would be upset when "pure evil" Disney villains get their own movies that explore them and their backstories, ect. Although everyone's opinions differs. Its okay to dislike it, but some people genuinely believe giving sob backstories to villains makes them boring. Pure villain characters can be fun, not every villain has to have their own sad story to back up their actions, though it leaves a plot hole for the people who'd dive deep.
It leaves people wondering what made them want to do that. People absorb fiction differently, some characters are just for gags, not have 20 seasons of lore. It's just a pet peave i guess?
