What a WEEK

Well that was a lot.

SUNDAY:

Was Father's day so naturally I completely avoided him all day and was kinda depressed thinking about shit childhood blah blah blah who cares.

I always stay up late to listen to one of my favorite local radio shows which is the punk night from 12-4am. About 1ish I get a text from an establishment I accidentally sent in an empty job application about three weeks ago. I tried to resend with literally anything other than my contact info but it said I couldn't apply twice. Anyways, I get a text at one in the am asking my for a job interview the next day?? Listen I may just be old fashioned but I am a firm believer in business hours. You do not contact me after you are closed unless it is a DIRE fucking emergency. And at one in the morning???? I am also not big on last minute plans. I need to know everything like at least three days in advance.

MONDAY:

I text back in the morning and say "yes I'm interested, what time?" They didn't get back to me until almost 11am saying the interview was at 3:40. Last minute. I decide to go because I am desperate. The plan was to scope out the management and see if this would even work.

I completely bombed the interview. Like totally. Because I was nervous and unprepared and it was 111F at 3:40 (no I am not exaggerating it was actually 111F). They kept asking me these super weird free-form questions that I wasn't sure what they wanted the answer to. I ended up babbling like an idiot and had lots of "uhmmm"s and "uhhh pshhhh..."s (my public speaking teacher would have been so disappointed in me).

I say whatever. What's done is done and I drive over to the dollar store for a $1.35 sodey pop because it's hot and I feel like shit. Sitting the parking lot waiting for my car to cool off I see a group of teenage boys walking into the pet store, they are all dressed like normal kids, basket ball shorts slides and a short. Except one kid was in JNCO jeans, an air brushed spiderman t shirt and a kids propeller hat. This isn't important but I was giggling so bad about it that I called my brother in the parking lot to tell him.

TUESDAY:

Tuesday was pretty calm actually. I worked on some more Daredevil graphics to add to my ever-growing collection, I cleaned the house a bit, worked in my planner, made plans for the rest of the week. Ya know. Normal stuff.

Then I get a text back at around 4pm from the place? Saying that they want to hire me?? After that interview??? They said, and I quote: "I know we mentioned in the interview that we were hiring all positions, but what we really need is a cook/bartender. Is that something you'd be interested in?" I said that I would be fine in the kitchen but have no qualifications nor the legal requirements needed to be a bartender.

That night I am painting my nails watching Firefly. I get another text at 10:43pm saying that they'd pay for my certifications and they'd train me on the job. Orientation is at 3:00pm the next day. WHAT THE FUCK. I FREEEAAKKKEEEDDD THE FUCK OUT!!!!!!!! It took me almost an hour to calm down!!!! I do not particularly want to be a bartender!!! I am scared as hell because if something goes wrong the legal ramifications are quite drastic!!! Plus that's like an entire thing you know?? Like I have to go to bartender school and shit and that's not something I was prepared to drop everything for super last minute!!!!! I don't even drrrinnnnkk!!!!!!!! My drink of choice is a gin and tonic!!!! But I need a job!!! SO FUCKING BAD!!!!!!!!

I spent a good bit of time deliberating this, but I decided that if I was so stressed about it now, it was only going to get worse. They have been super lax with communication and I was informed of everything the last minute. I literally could not live like this. After about a week my brother would have had to lock the medicine cabinet again. It wouldn't be worth it. So I texted them back and said "No, actually, I can't be there tomorrow at 3. I already said I didn't want to bartend, and I was unqualified to do so. If you had let me know a few days in advance I might have considered. But you have repeatedly texted me past business hours for things the next day. I don't want to work for an establishment that texts me at one in the morning for an interview the next day. It's highly unprofessional and doesn't reflect well on management."

And that was that. No job for me. Everyone I've talked to has said "oh it's not thaaatt bad." and that I'm being dramatic about the last minute-ness of it all. But I really, really do not think so. At one in the morning you guys. One in the morning!!! Hell no!!

WEDNESDAY:

Got up early for a full day of thrift shopping and a few errands. This was already planned four days in advance and I'm not going to lie I felt kinda bad still going after turning down a job... the guilt will consume me forever I will never be free. But I was going because my younger brother asked me to take him. He's redecorating his room to be less "childish" and wanted some more mature decor. He's growing up on me I don't know what to do.

Anyways, our favorite thrift store was having their $0.50 clothes sale!! Got some cute summer dresses and a few new t shirts. Plus also the cutest sling back heels??? They are red and have a little white lotus on the strap!!! I genuinely cannot believe they fit. I wear a size 11-12 in women's shoes but these are a 10? Big ass 10 holy hell. I also got a few more Warner Brothers snap cases to add to my DVD collection! Death to Smoochy, The Thin Man, and Deathtrap! DVD's were also 4-$1! Yay saving money!!

Anyways, we got home at like 5:30?? Was not supposed to stay out so late. But we had to stop by a couple of places for groceries, and the library, and the post office and yadda yadda yadda. Played 10's and watched the 2011 Green Lantern movie. Yuck!

THURSDAY:

Up early again to go to my Aunt Shirley's house for a full day horror movie marathon. She got very excited to show me some her favorite horror films that I couldn't be like "ummmm..." So we ended up watching Insidious: The Red Door, The Black Phone, and The Birds. which was my pick. The Insidious franchise is my for real arch nemesis. James Wan when I fucking get you. The movie was as expected, sloppy and cheap in it's scares. The Black Phone was definitely better than I was expecting, but still not great. And of course The Birds. That movie still scares the shit out of me. One of the only movies to do so. Unfortunately I had to cut the day short because I was getting teh worst fucking migraine. Mostly allergy related, but this damn heat isn't helping either.

Went home and took and hour power nap before dinner, then ate, and finished recharging for about 45min before I was putting my shoes back on and heading out the door.

Me and my younger brother saw Supergirl opening night. It was mehhh.... whatever. DISCLAIMER I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE SUPERMAN COMICS!!! I WAS A MARVEL KID!!! The plot was sooo fucking simple they had nothing to put in the movie. Every other scene was an action set piece and it got boring quiickkk. I'll spare you the whole review but they CGI'd Lobo's cigar and it looked so fucking bad. I can not abide by this nonsense.

FRIDAY:

I slept in CRAZY STYLE!!! Got up and got lunch instead of breakfast and caught up on some reading and the news. My day was spent going "bwullllleegggghhh...." and chilling the fuck out.

At 6:30 I left to go to my bio mom's house where me and her wife were going to the rodeo. I agreed to go because despite being a born and raised Texan I had never been to a rodeo, and my bio mom was not going. Well she found out I was going and then acted like she always intended to go. And nobody told me that she was coming (: I found out when she grabbed the car keys. I was pissed tf AWF!!! I do not want to be hanging out with this bitch!!

Good for me though where we sat my bad ear was to the speaker and my bio mom so I literally couldn't hear a goddamn thing. The rodeo itself was fun. Kinda wish I had just gone on my own but whatever. The people watching was otherworldly. Sooooo many fake ""goth"" people which was a surprise. Like what are you even doiiingg omg... And of course the plague that is spreading faster than the Ebola virus... city """"""country"""""" folk. People that have lived in the city all their lives who moved out here to play at being cowboy. Perfectly clean clothes, never before used boots, 2026 lifted Ram trucks, and model worthy makeup. And the farm in question? A tomato garden and a few chickens. These fuckers are the most annoying sons of bitches ever. It was really funny watching them give ME the weird looks though. Like hello??? I am more southern than you will ever be and I have never even lived on a farm.

After the rodeo I decided to hit a movie while I was in town. Supergirl said it started at 10:30 and the movie started at 11:00. I am a little late because the parking lot for the rodeo was a nightmare, so I get there at 10:30 when the showtime was 10:15. Whatever right? WRONG. Movie started on time and I was 15 min late :( Anyways I watched Jackass: Best and the Last. It was Jackass I really don't have a review for that. Expect the ending and the credits made me tear up just a little... The only other people in the theater was the group of friends, and as I was walking up the steps the guy on the end SHOUTED at me like "GET DOWN IN FRONT!!!" and I jumped like ???? Hello??? But it was actually this guy I've been joking around with and just couldn't see him bc it was dark lmao. He was like "oh shit did you not know that was me?" and I said "no dude I'm almost completely night blind." His friend turned around and said "yo who tf is that??" and the guy said "oh just some guy I know". His buddies were getting on his ass like ?? how do you know him?? and I leaned down the row and asked him what my name was and he went "...uhhmmmmm..."      For context here we actually don't really know each other, but it's a small town and we just happen to run into each other a lot. We always have a brief exchange of quips or insults or something and move on. I don't know his name either, but he's quite fun.

SATURDAY:

Another early morning so I can listen to some of my favorite radio programs and work in my planner! Got all of next month's pages ready to go and am very excited!! Then I had lunch and typed out this beast of a blog. Watching X-Files tonight with my cat and I'm sleeping from 10pm-10am. I am quite tired after this week.

That was sooo much text sorry!!! Anyways if you made it this far I hope you are having a good day ♥ love yooouuu :]

Turning down the job seems wise. The fact they KEPT pushing your boundaries before they even properly hired you is a bad sign!

THATS CRAZY !! omg, your week has been so hectic. i completely understand declining the job. bartending SOUNDS fun but it is really hectic and stressful. not to mention the company's lack of time management. that's good that you saw the red flags early. if they're like that to new hires, image how it'll be actually working there. they also sound DESPTERATE !!! so glad you said no. keep your head up !! another job will come to you. i spent years working jobs that i hated. i wish i had been a bit more picky with it. f-ck people who say you're not supposed to be happy at work because it's a job. if you're spending your valuable time there you should enjoy it !!

i'm so jelly you got to see Supergirl...... i totally get not really liking it though (growing up with marvel) but that's crazy to hear about the cgi and how it was boring ): . i still have yet to see it. i grew up with DC/Batman hardcore. my mom loved the tim burton Batman movies. you should check those out (they are so corny lol). have you seen the most recent Superman movie? ugh i loved it.

I KNOW!!! I am so excited to do literally nothing this week... it was not supposed to be that crazy.

I am too honestly, I was literally thinking like "if I make plans would I ever be able to keep them? Everyone around me would hate me because if I get a text the NIGHT BEFORE saying I had to work I'd be canceling shit left and right." and I can't live like that! I totally agree on needing to like your job, even if it's just fast food or whatever, why would you want to live miserably every day of your life? If you can't get another job that's a different story, but if you have more options open to you take them!!

When you watch Supergirl lmk!!! I'd love to hear what you thought!

Okay so I mentioned that I was a Marvel kid because everyone I know is dogging on this movie for trashing the comic arch it's based on lmao. I literally know nothing about that so I feel like my opinion of the movie might be skewed.

YES!!! Over the past few years I have been getting really into Batman, because I saw The Batman (2022) in theaters and it was so good I went back and saw it again the next day. That led to more Batman movies and comics and stuff. And since I was already starting to dip my toes into DC I was like mayyyybbeee I'll watch Superman.. idk tho. Then I found out Nathan Fillion was in it, and ended up liking that movie so much I saw it 3 times in theaters!! I watched Supergirl bc I was a big fan of Superman (2025) lmaooo. My DC journey has just been a big snowball effect :P

The first Tim Burton movie is my favvvveee!!!! Jack Nicholson Joker... /////b
