In my previous blog post, I shared how I’ve been feeling, and many of you showed your support in the comments. In this post, I’d like to provide some context and explain what has been happening from my perspective.
For a long time, I thought the problem was me.
Whenever there was a conflict, I looked for ways to improve, communicate better, regulate my emotions, and be more understanding. I spent months trying to become the version of myself that would finally make things work.
The truth is more complicated.
The person I love is not a monster. In many ways, he has tried to improve. Some things that used to hurt me happen less often now. He gives me more freedom, supports me financially when I need it, and has made visible efforts to change behaviors that caused problems between us.
And yet, I am still tired.
Not because of one argument or one bad day. It is the accumulation of many things. Broken promises. Feeling unheard. Feeling like my mistakes become major problems while other mistakes are easier to excuse. Being afraid of someone's reactions. Constantly monitoring moods and trying to prevent conflict before it starts.
I have lived with severe anxiety and depression for years. I know my mental health is my responsibility. I know no one can heal me for me.
But I also know that healing becomes harder when you feel emotionally alone.
I am twelve weeks pregnant, and the loneliness has surprised me more than anything else. I expected fear. I expected uncertainty. I did not expect to feel so alone while going through something that was supposed to be shared.
The hardest realization is that I no longer trust words the way I used to. Not because I stopped believing in love, but because I have seen too many moments where words and actions did not match.
Someone can say they will stay.
Someone can say they will support you.
Someone can say they love you.
But eventually, you start paying more attention to what happens than to what is promised.
Sometimes I feel guilty for even thinking about leaving. I see the effort. I see the attempts to change. I know things are not exactly the same as before.
But I also know that every time I begin to feel hopeful again, something happens that leaves me questioning everything.
Maybe that is why I am so tired.
Not because there is no hope.
But because I no longer know whether hope is enough.
What I want most is not certainty, excitement, or even answers.
I want peace.
I want to stop being afraid of people's reactions.
I want to stop feeling responsible for everyone else's emotions.
I want to stop feeling trapped.
For now, I am not making any final decisions.
I am simply trying to listen to myself.
And for the first time in a very long time, I am taking what I hear seriously.
