Writing music is so hard. Especially since I write “emo” music now (it’s hard to write Melody’s & shit, but that’s not the point). Writing lyrics is the hardest thing of all time. I can think of like a line or two, but nothing goes to anything instrumental I’ve written. It’s also so hard to write about my life, like how do people do it? I mean, I do nothing, I haven’t had a girlfriend in like 5-6 years (can’t write breakup songs without actually experiencing a real breakup), I do nothing but like buy records, clothes & action figures & go to the cinema to watch whatever new movie seems cool (because I’m a dork). I don’t understand how I’m so bad at writing, because I was so good at English in school (I mean I had a high pass, grade 5 average to be exact, which I think translates to like a C+, maybe a B-). I love writing, I’ve always loved doing creative stuff but it’s genuinely so fucking hard. I’ve tried writing & planning so many things, I’ve tried to make movies, write comics & make music, the only problems I’ve ever ran into is lack of equipment/time, I don’t have the kind of cameras I want, I never had the time to spend time on comics, I don’t have drums (which would really help with writing music) well actually, I do but they’re like super delayed electric drums. (I’ve also realised I go on tangents a lot in my blogs & I may tackle that in a different post but now’s not the time lol), anyways, thanks for reading this bullshit, byeeeeeeeeee :p

i've only briefly skimmed over this so sorry if i'm writing this too early but it caught my eye and i feel the need to ramble...
anyways in terms of writing lyrics, i've heard a lot of bands switch from writing instrumentals first to writing lyrics first then creating an entirely new instrumental specifically to fit around the lyrics. i believe bands like the kooks, panic! at the disco (specifically for the second half of "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out", i believe the entirety of "Pretty. Odd" and "Nearly Witches") and maybe even set it off have all done this before and the last two i mentioned have pretty interesting lyrics that worked out really well with that style!! so hopefully that could maybe help out a bit :3
also in terms of helping your writing be more interesting... read more books and poems and whip out like a thesaurus or something similar like a dictionary bc those are pretty good too for improving writing and what not too ! :3
but definitely read more books and poems, try to analyze them too and take notes about them

also you can definitely write about stuff you've never experienced, ryan ross did that a lot for the second half of panic! at the disco's a fever you can't sweat out (lying is the most fun a girl can have... and build god then we'll talk iirc is an example of this) and a couple of other artists have just made shit up as well

The one thing I remember keeping from school before I left was a poetry book they gave us, because I felt like it would come in handy, thanks for the advice :p

Star using random beats u can find on YouTube and try to add the words slowly. Listen closely the beat so u can perceive what kind of emotion that sounds is trying to be and start imagine a situation where that sound could be the background music
