I SAW SANGUISUGABOGG LIVE: Here's what I thought!

I recently saw Sanguisugabogg live, and I want to talk about it!

SANGUISUGABOGG: The band with the name you can't pronounce.

Formed in Columbus, Ohio, in 2019 by guitarist Cameron Boggs and to date, out with one demo, one live album and three studio albums.

So I finally saw Sanguisugabogg live! Let me clarify that I didn't go to see them specifically, I went to see Lamb of God with a friend of mine, and they happened to be a headliner. For a long time, I sort of ignored the buzz about them. I'd heard they'd gotten popular online and were pretty good. And I had seen the music video for Gored In The Chest a few years back. As well as the vid for Abhorrent Contraception a year ago when it came out, and had thought it was pretty good. But hadn't really kept it in my rotation for longer than the week that I'd found it in.

When I saw them on the line up I was pretty interested, I wanted to give them a chance live so I could really experience it. Any one who's ever been to a metal show before knows what I'm talking about. A lot of bands sound different live, or are much more fun once the energy of the crowd is involved. (or maybe the moshing keeps you distracted from how shitty the music actually is LOL) But I was actually really looking forward to seeing them, and so was my friend, who's been a fan of them for a while now. So getting there with time to see them in the first place was pretty nice, even if we got there right as they were going on. You can blame New England drivers for that.

When they got on stage, I was immediately caught off guard by their props. They had these mutilated bodies up there, I remember an impaled chest / torso and a bloody head on a stick. Which I could tell weirded out a couple of the old heads who stayed on the outside of the general barricade area, and worked up people like me and the rest of the crowd. I love it when bands have a stage presence and carry their sound into their image. And believe me, that image is their sound! They were BRUTAL! The callouts were AMAZING, just pure f*cking VIOLENCE.

"This is a song about f*cking dead people... 'cause it's what I like to do!"

The pit? Nuclear.  The energy? 100% The music? So good. And the crowd? You can't compare

I've fallen in love with this filth. (and you should too!) And they're definitely in my playlist now. If you have a thing for G*re fueled death metal, down-tuned guitars, Mortician-style heaviness, and getting beaten half to death in the pit, THIS IS THE BAND FOR YOU. If you want to get into them, I recommend the albums Homicidal Ecstacy and Hideous Aftermath for a start...

*P.S write me if you like this band

So my take away? Yeah. They're amazing live. And if you ever get the chance to see them?

What the f*ck are you waiting for??
