I really wanna dress 2000s, and i feel like i dont have many 2000s clothes. or at least, clothes that resemble the 2000s. i have:
- two bootcut jeans, one blue, one black (obvs i have more jeans but they dont resemble 2000s)
- a polo shirt (as shown in my pfp)
- a cream v-neck jumper?
- a white and a black scoop neck t-shirt
- this button up shirt, idk how to describe it but i feel like it gives fashion writer editor typa job in the 2000s :p
- my jewellery is a silver necklace with a circle with my name on it, a gold one with a firefly, a gold butterfly ring and a simpler one, and a few gold bracelets, with the exception of a thin silver one with two stars
- uhh apart from that, my clothes are mostly grey varsity jumpers, wide jeans, a grey hoodie, a black jumper with gold buttons on one shoulder, and a few tops, which are cute, but not 2000s.
its also hard to find actual affordable and cute clothes from the 2000s, especially when all the stores in my city look the fucking same. i dont have depop or vinted, and idk if my parents would be happy with me buying second hand stuff, and if im being honest im not that comfortable with buying used stuff.
i live in england and ik compared to other countries, there are many stores that have cute clothing, but here its hard to find :'( does anyone know where to find actual good stuff? help a girl out!!

Id recommend going to stores but be super duper like SUPER DUPER picky with what youd buy, also come to stores with a vision and list what you need beforehand. Maybe buy new stuffs but maybe style it in a 2000s way, along with that you also need to buy accessories like necklaces bangles heels or shoes, i think those would make a very huge difference on your outfit. Also practice layering your clothes, i do that by experimenting nights before a day out, going through vids on tiktok or simply just look at pinterest feed and try to make an outfit. Goodluck!!

a lot of fashion styles from the 2000s had a lot of layering going on, as long as you have or can get your hands on stuff like zip up hoodies, bomber jackets, faux leather jackets, vests, literally any clothing item that's plaid or any sort of plaid anything, any plain or striped shirt that's either long or short sleeved and ofc polos then you can literally look like any 2000s kid with ease just by layering alone (bonus points if you're emo ig and do the double jackets thing but ideally only do that in the colder seasons bc whilst i have seen mfs doing that shit in texas summers with no care you really don't wanna get heat stroke trust me lol)
other than that though a lot of ppl had graphic tees that were either band tees, brightly colored shit your parents likely got out of some kids clothing store or something in the style of brands like morphine generation, drop dead or just some other shit you'd see in a zumiez/somewhere similar to that so if you can get your hands on anything like that...then you're already a step closer to your goal depending on what you're looking for (specifically if it's something on the edge of emo, scene or another similar subculture)
also a lot of people also had a bunch of winter hats too, so if you can get your hands on anything like beanies, trapper hats or other winter hats those could also work depending on your style (which iirc 2000s/2010s hipster and emo styles really gave zero fucks about seasonal shit so as long as you don't mind it, it could work) people also had other weird hats and shit later on like fedoras (even though that's kinda more of a 2010s thing but hey ik some people were wearing those things back in like 08 so it still works) also i nearly forgot but scarves were pretty popular and i wanna say other hats like newsboy caps, berets and what not were also around
besides that though you could also diy i think some regular boring plain shirts into v-necks and if you have any pants you don't really like anymore that are in the style of skinny jeans or some leggings you may be able to turn those into some capris also leggings are an alright stand in for skinny jeans if you really need something like that (especially if you like scenemo stuff) and i think if you have anything to make bead bracelets (or similar stuff) you could make a lot of cool accessories with those too

Depending on the time/resources you might have, diy-ing a lot of your stuff could be beneficial to you. You can essentially make any outfit 2000s-coded with accessories, (which I noted another commenter pointed out) and/or makeup and hair. (Even with the grey hoodie and baggy jeans, get yourself a side-part and some all-around eye makeup and that was pretty much what a lot of people wore if they weren't on the particularly fashion-forward end of the 2000s fashion spectrum.) Something that could also be beneficial, (back to the diy aspect) is looking at the silhouettes of 2000s fashion. If you have a baggy top, you could learn to taper the waist, since figure-hugging silhouettes were popular back then.

i think with that clothes is great !! what about accessories ?? like necklaces, cute rings, cool belts... those make a HUGE difference.
however, sometimes i search on pinterest for inspiration and many times the outfits are so simple, but they have that "essence", so i would say that having confidence and believe that u alredy are a y2k star is, literally, everythinggg

AND THATS A GOOD POINT HAHSSH, sometimes i forget that not every 2000s/2010s outfit was super interesting, some were more casual yet still had that "essence" you speak about! and YESSS believing in yourself is the MOST important thing, i like to think i give off the vibes of a girl from a 2000s or 2010s movie or series hehe!

maybe ask ur parents if they kept their old clothes? try going to thrift stores or shop online
my parents didn't keep any of their old clothes :') my mum did give me a few of her clothes from the early 2010's which i love! :D aaand the thrift stores here have no y2k stuff whatsoever, and when you said "shop online" do you mean like vinted or actual shops? cuz idk where to shop exactly online!
