I'M EXCITED FOR NEXT HALLOWEEN!

I know it's way too early, I'm just bringing this up because I got reminded of it.

I love Halloween but I've never participated in it back when, according to people, it was more whimsical, because my native country doesn't celebrate it.

In 2024, when I was 15, was the first time I got to, and it was... okay! I dressed up as a black and white clown. The costume was pretty bland and I didn't get to decorate it because it was a last minute decision and things didn't go according to plan, but that's all I was able to do. I like clown costumes!

But umm... things went wrong.

I then had to throw that costume in the trash right after school.

But we got to eat snacks and watch a movie!!!

The movie I picked was Scary Movie.

Yeah that's the name. And lemme make this clear, I knew NOTHING about Scary Movie. We were only shown the trailers of the movies, and from what I could tell, this was just an interesting-looking horror themed comedy movie.

If you don't know what Scary Movie is, or at least the first movie, it's a parody film on the slasher genre that released on 2000, featuring a Ghost Face-like antagonist. It's also the source of a couple things you might've seen online. Example:

And yeah, honestly... The jokes are pretty funny! .... When they're not being utterly disgusting.

Despite having the ability to make some clever jokes, Scary Movie relies on really raunchy and gross humor throughout most of the movie that made me cringe way, WAY too hard to enjoy the actual good parts. I had to sit through 2 make out scenes AND LATER a stupid sex scene that was added to the movie for some reason... WHILE SITTING IN A ROOM FULL OF OTHER KIDS AND TEACHERS.

It's also one of those movies where everyone is either a dick or braindead, which I'm personally not big on, especially since it's the "stupid fucking teenagers played by adults" flavor of asshole... I usually already deal with self-centered, idiotic teens on the daily, I don't need that in my media too. One of my classmates "jokingly" called me a fucking "good girl" when I covered my eyes while watching the movie, if it were up to me that bitch boy would've gotten executed on the spot

Speaking of dicks, have I also mentioned how they show straight up balls in this movie?

The context is that there's a gym teacher who pretends to be a woman just to be a perverted pedophile, which... Now that I think about it sounds like what a transphobe thinks trans women are, but anyways, his balls pop out of his panties or something. Just. Right there. On display.

Our teachers told us this movie was like 13+ by the way. I think there was also a scene where... a guy gets stabbed by a dick??? I don't know man

So yeah umm it was highkey disastorous. I was... really disappointed... But we had vacation after lol. And I probably had a nice time for the rest of Halloween, though I don't remember it clearly.

Wait, actually, I WENT TO A HAUNTED FOREST WITH MY FAMILY!! IT WAS GREAT!

2025 was considerably better, but it was also... surprisingly bland. Almost no one besides me dressed up besides staff, and we didn't even get candy at the end of the day unlike last year. Which, BY THE WAY, I DRESSED UP AS SPAMTON THAT TIME!!

The night before, I threw together a simple mask with the cardboard I had acquired from the box that a gift from my friend had arrived with. I already had a button-up and some pants in my wardrobe that I could use, since Spamton's outfit was quite simple.

Here it is in real life! I don't know why the side of the hair ripped off but I was still pretty happy with this! I brought my Spammy plush along so that it would be easier to explain my costume.

I picked Coco this time since I wasn't interested in the other movies. It was fine. I went home like normal.

It definitely felt not very special, and I wish others shared my enthusiasm a bit more. I couldn't go to the haunted forest or anything this time either. I've never went trick or treating because... I don't know how... I don't even know if they do that here.

But I wanna thank my friend for inviting me to watch horror movies together that night. We tried to watch Terrifier, but when we got to that one scene where the girl is upside down it was kind of awkward for me, at least watching it with someone else so I was like "actually... Can we not watch this?"

She watched the rest of it on her own time though and another friend to also watch it, and now Art is in her dreams.

We then watched a movie called The Thing. It's a sci-fi horror about a group of researchers stuck in Antartica with a really gross shapeshifting alien called The Thing, that released on 1982, and it also had a 2011 version but we didn't watch that one. The scene with the dogs made me really sad :o(

Seriously if you wanna check it out be warned because a dog, actually two, DO die in it and it's quite upsetting, and the transformation is also disgusting. The movie's horror overall definitely centers around body horror specifically. That scene is the peak of this movie's horror though despite being pretty early into it, and I definitely wouldn't have really watched this by myself. Not just because of that scene but because umm.

The rest of the movie is kinda mid. Especially the ending. I got lowkey bored.

I don't know if we watched another movie after that but yeah it was nice still!

Regarding what I plan for Halloween this year, I honestly have no idea. I might make a Jevil mask OR A TENNA HEAD, watch another movie or play a game with someone or some people, and I hope to attend some kind of event again like I did in 2024. Only time will tell it seems!
