The most famous vampire of all times is Dracula but... was he the first?

The answer is NO, there were other vampires novels before him, the very first one was ¨The Vampire¨ by Lord Ruthven.

But the one i want to talk a little bit about is Carmilla.

Carmilla´s novel was published in 1872, twenty five years before Dracula which was published in 1897.

The author of Dracula took some inspiration from the novel of Carmilla.

The author was an irish man called Joshep Sheridan.

The protagonist are Carmilla ( The vampire) and Laura.

The story explore the desire and the romantic tensión between two womans which was very advanced and scandalous for the time the novel was published.

The story runs around a British young lady, Laura, who lives with her father in a castle.

Due to various cases Carmilla ends up living with Laura but after a time Laura notices Carmilla is a very strange woman but also a very pretty one.

One day Laura fell ill and her father began to question what was happening to her daughter.

Is Carmilla´s linked to the deteriorating state of his daughter health?.
