Happy pride month! For this May blog, I don't have much to share. But I did attend the Haifa metal meeting, so I'll talk about it.
I enjoyed a lot of the bands! The opener, the Banned, were definitely my favorite. I wanted to buy their merch, however they didn't sell any merch at the event. After them performed Obsidian Tide, they were neat, I definitely prefer them live though. Also not really a fan of their AI usage... Third band was Oceans on Orion, which I know of and were fun, but they're not the type of metal I listen to. After them performed Desert, which were honestly so sick, easily my 3rd favorite act of the event. They tried out some new stuff for that show (such as having 3 vocalists on stage at the same time), and they executed it perfectly. After them performed The Fading, they were alright. I have no strong opinion about them. After them performed Dusk Realm. Which I don't mind black metal, especially when it's live, but wow they did not perform well. They just weren't confident enough and struggled a lot with timing, resulting in an underwhelming performance. After them performed my second favorite act, and the last one, MGRL (magrol). When they started the show, they let out a bunch of people in chicken costumes into the audience to cause chaos, their entire theme is satire, it was great. I was confused and shaken up the entire time but I enjoyed every second of it. I bought a shirt since they did have a stall! It's incredibly stupid, I love it. Basically, It was fun, I loved it, and I managed to get 2 new band shirts out of it! Awesome! Just good ol' 7 hours of metal and fun. Not just that, I got to talk to and meet some new cool people.
Now, onto new vocal synth releases. Because I have very normal combinations of interests.
On the 14th, released two new vocals for VOX factory, Julian and Doyoon! I actually really like this specific engine, they have fun vocals and super neat character designs. However, these specific voices don't have designs. Doyoon feels a lot like just a default masculine vocal, which is nice to have. He's higher pitched, and he has a softer, warmer quality. I like it, can't say much more. Julian is similar, however I would say he is more powerful than Doyoon. Very nice bright vocal, but again, not much too enthusiastic about it. Oona is still my #1 VOX factory diva and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon.
On the 21st, released Mo Yi, another vocal from dreamtonics' default voice series. She is a sweet and delicate vocal, fairly high pitched. And although she's a sweet and delicate vocal, I wouldn't necessarily call it soft. Overall, nice voice, no strong opinion.
On the 26th, Mirai Komachi got a Vocaloid 6 update! Out of all the vocaloids I did not expect her to get an update. But you know what, her new pinker design is super cute, and she sounds amazing, so this is a very welcome update.
On the 28th, released FIVE default dreamtonics voices: Lina, Shun, Nea, Marvin, and Toi. Lina is an airy and cool toned, but decently powerful voice. She is more mid-range, which is nice to hear. Overall, her voice is nice, but what really stands out to me is how diverse she is. Even in the demo she displays great fluidity.
Shun has a warmer, slightly softer tone, and I can hear some similarities to Kaito, however I think Shun is still doing his own thing. I think he's a neat vocal, but not as diverse as Lina. He would be nice for people who want a vocal similar to Kaito, either for duets/harmonies, or because they don't have Vocaloid or don't know how to use it.
Nea is one of the first native korean vocals for synthesizer V (as in, the VP voiced the software in korean). She has a very clear voice, with a warm tone and softer quality. I think she would be best for slower songs, she sounds lovely.
Marvin is a very soulful, rich voice, with a neutral to warm tone. The power in his higher notes is beautiful. I think if you want a vocal to use for Rnb, Soul, or any other related genres- Marvin is the perfect voice for the job. I genuinely really enjoy his voice, there have been other past vocals with similar qualities, but I think Marvin is one of the vocals that executes it best.
Toi is a warm, softer vocal, although he also has great range similar to Lina. He's a very nice vocal if you want one vocal to cover a variety of genres. Although personally I am not too enthused by his voice, I'm sure there are many people who will be able to make his voice shine.
And these are the vocal synth releases for May! Holy shit dreamtonics really popped off. I mean, 6 vocals in one month? That's a lot!
And this is the blog for May. Hopefully I manage to attend a lot of pride events.
Seeya next month!
