the road rolls on...

Second gig of my fake tour continued last night, and it was the first of 15 shows with Supernova. And what a way to keep rollin' on!

I could like this job ;)

Let me start off by saying that The Jefferson House is a GREAT place!! Very scenic, right on the lake, perfect weather. Watching the water ripple around and seeing people on their boats and jet skis...at a rock gig?! Yeah well, stranger gigs have happened but this was a nice change of pace.

We did three sets, added new songs to the mix such as "Panama" by Van Halen, "Rock You Like A Hurricane" by Scorpions and finally "Cult Of Personality" by Living Colour. The crowd were initially immovable, stayed close to the tiki bar but then eventually some people with liquid courage started dancing. Yeah we like that.

A week prior to the gig, I scraped the tip of my index finger on my fretting hand. Wish I could say something cool like I saved someone from a bear attack but no...I tripped up the steps going into my house. Lame, I know. Spent a week nursing it with liquid bandage, limited playing my guitar aside from teaching, so that come gig time, my finger would be healed. It was ALMOST healed so I wore a single finger cot over it. Looked like I was going to give an exam (think about that). You think I would bail because of a nicked finger? No way.

The band sounded really great, mix was awesome, the vibes were flowing. And a lot of people said "Welcome to the band" but...am I in Supernova now? I don't know but I tell people that I'm "temporarily permanent". To be 56 years old and be all "Dude, I'm in a band!" is kinda strange-sounding to me. I enjoy subbing with various bands when the time is right. But Supernova always made me feel welcome, as have their friends.

Accepted finally? You make the call.
