the last couple of months ive been slowly breaking up with my partner. we live together so we've been slowly untangling ourselves from each other since mid april. honestly i think i was beginning to have some doubts about our relationship since the beginning of the year.
we're on good terms, but i think we're both ready to transition out of living together and give ourselves space so we can move on as friends. now that we're a couple weeks away from being out of our apartment, ive been feeling a mixture of loss, excitement, nostalgia, and ecstasy. what better album to listen to during this time then melodrama by lorde?
lorde has always been one of my favorite artists, ive been listening to her since middle school starting with Pure Heroine. ive always felt when she releases an album it always resonates with me and perfectly captures that same stage of life im in at that time. but now as i get older its been interesting to see which ones come back into relevancy. now as i dance back and forth between the excitement of a new chapter, the newfound freedom and independence I haven't had in years, and the dread of being alone once again after spending almost three years with someone, melodrama has been such a great comfort during all of it, especially now as summer approaches.
virgin has also been a great listen, the feeling of "waking up" after leaving a relationship and not knowing what's next for you. i was lucky to go to the ultrasound tour this past october with my friend in LA at the kia forum and it was one of my favorite concerts ive ever been gone to. plus charli came out for girl so confusing and it was a beautiful moment to share with my friend.
feeling grateful for all the music artists that have shaped me over the years. for the songs that offer me a shoulder to cry on and the ones that make my heart race at the club. but at the end of the day there's no one else that's resonated with me nearly as much as lorde. i often think of her as an older sister, her albums telling me all her stories over the years like we're talking in low, laughing voices at a dining room table when everyone else is asleep. .jpg)

beautifully written! it's interesting how music we loved in our youth plays a role in transitional times of our lives (for me it was David Bowie since 13)
I really hope you're doing okay, though you wrote you two are parting on good terms it must be tough. Sending you a virtual hug <3
