PRIDE SUPPORT!

Not a lot of people will see this, but nonetheless, I'm gonna make it,,,,,,

(¯﹃¯*)

There aren't any Pride events in my area. I live in a small, rural Utah town, so the queer community is repressed. I only know a single place that is here to support and outwardly strives to help our small community. It is miles away from my home, and I cannot access it often, if at all, considering my transphobic family.

But to everyone who can, go to Pride events. Go to Pride Parades, donate to your local Pride centers, and help your community out. Get involved, meet people, and have fun this Pride Month.

You are loved!

Going to a pride parade/public event for the first time?

Here's what to bring!:

1. A backpack, fanny pack, or arm bag. Something you can keep close to your body while still keeping your things safe.

2. WATER. Lots and LOTS of water! Stay hydrated! Maybe even bring some for others, if you're feeling generous. Just. Bring some water. PLEASE.

3. Sunscreen, like a whole lot of it. Re-apply once every 30 minutes to an hour. Spray is easiest to carry, but the cream is better for coverage.

4. Pepper spray, loud whistles, or anything to protect yourself. People WILL be protesting. Be safe.

5. A buddy! Parents, siblings, friends, or even your dog. Bring someone close to you. Not only is it fun, but also safer!

6. Bug spray. Bugs can carry diseases and give nasty bites, so make sure to wear some repellent.

7. Identification and money. Pretty self-explanatory, just bring your wallet! There are usually food stands, concessions, and even clothes people are selling.

8. Sewing kits. People, even yourself, might wear your finest pride attire. When you're having fun, things may break! You might have to repair your clothes or someone else's. If you don't know how to sew, you don't have to bring one, but if you do, go for it!

9. First Aid Kit, bandages, something to protect wounds or help with sickness.

10. Your phone. Emergency services, GPS, and emergency contacts are extremely accessible if you bring your phone. Also, you can take pictures. :  )

11. Anything else you might need to bring. You don't want to haul around a heavy tote all day, but you also shouldn't have to restrict yourself from bringing necessities. Medications, lotions, food for your blood sugar, vitamins, headphones, sensory toys, etc., are some things you might have to bring, and that's okay! Bring them! I'm not forcing you or restricting you to the things on the list.

Be safe, have fun, and be proud, even if you're an ally!

Have a fun Pride!

YOU ARE LOVED!!
