movie recs + history class ig??

ik a lot of people are interested in the whole ww2 period, but what i think is even more interesting is the few years that come after, the period where Europe tried to get back working as fast as possible and how social changes struggle to follow. I was talking about movies about that period with my history teacher later and it’s two movies that I think are really good.

The first movie is an Italian movie called 'We All Loved Each Other So Much' (C'eravamo tanto amati). It’s not really historically heavy because it mainly follows a love triangle (square?) but the background is Italy after Mussolini and all the changes that followed. Other than that it’s a really artistic movie with a lot of theatrics and heavy inspiration from drama and theater.

The second one is a lot less happy lmao, it’s a German movie called 'Labyrinth of Lies' (Im Labyrinth des Schweigens) that takes place in 1958 and follows a young lawyer basically trying to bust out all the Nazis that are still hiding in Germany at that time. It’s a lot more heavier and definitely harder to watch because of all the themes that are related to the Holocaust, but nothing really graphic is ever shown. Of course, things are still a bit romanticized like in every movie, but I think it does a really good job of showing how taboo and unknown everything related to ww2 was at that time. The story is actually inspired from a real story. The older lawyer you see in the movie actually existed and did a majority of what the younger lawyer does in the movie irl. All the names given are also real.

I don’t think anybody really cares but I just wanted to talk about these movies ig, I thought they were cool :p
