Last thrift haul

Kinda late getting to show off a haul i got last week, but I've been busy dealing with some other stuff. I'm very proud of my weird haul - a kindle fire, a Panasonic LV55(these things are so old), and a shitload of Redbox movies!

The beautiful LV55 from 2000.

Funny thing about the LV55 was it was it was one of the first portable DVD players, dubbed The PalmTheater. Funny name for a 5 inch screen. The gray slab laying beside it on the left side is the monster battery for this tiny device, so big it has to latch onto the bottom of the player. I didn't show it in the photos, but this beast came with an inverter just to power it in a car, a Tripplite 140 watt inverter. Unfortunately i don't have the charger to test it, it takes a certain type of barrel plug, though this thing has a S-video hookup, so it could output full HD into an external TV.

Behold, the Kindle Fire tablet!

I'm a lucky daughter of a bastard that got a fully working first gen model. These lovely beauties come from 2011 and sport Android Gingerbread 2.3.3. Amazon rebranded them to fire tablets two years later.

Yes, it fully works as I've already found a bunch of workarounds for Amazon no longer supporting it. I can just load books on it from my pc and app APKs by dragging and dropping them, cause yes, Amazon left the option to sideload! What a fucking time in history!

I loaded an old version of Firefox on it and a Youtube client called NotPipe, which is a fork of NewPipe, a youtube alternative client that lets you watch videos without ads and download videos. NotPipe however is stripped down, like super fucking lightweight, clocking only 114KB!!! It plays videos so well that i can't believe it, though no channels or playlists or downloading videos, but works just fine for a 15 year old tablet with 512MB of ram.

Now to throw my Redbox haul in here, the thrift store i hit is like an antique mall in a old grocery store. They had a bin of Redbox movies in the back and i couldn't resist at 50 cents each.

Thanks for looking at my lil' haul!
