10 BL to get to know me

I love to read and make bracelets anywayz here is 10 Bl that I feel like encompass what I tend to enjoy in BL fkfkfk.

1) Cure Blood

    This is the work I credit to getting me truly invested in the genre. Although it is very vanilla compared to works I tend to read now there is a reason it is to date still one of favorites. The author, Arata Togaya, is very skilled at investing you in their character's psychologies. This is one of my dream works I would love to see licensed. Despite it only being a 5 chapter story, her pacing is never jarring, with each chapter just showing a snippet of their lives without it feeling  like we are missing something in their dynamic. The leads Juji and Tadayuki are very grounded characters that had thought processes which were understandable and even relatable for me. This story had such an impactful ending I genuinely believe reading this work has changed the way I interact with the world fkfkfk. I hope Togaya's works get more popular so I can one day see them with physical english translations.

2) FAKE

   Watching the OVA made me absolutely obsessed with FAKE. Dee and Ryo to this day are definitely one of my all time favorite couples. I always have a soft spot for couple who have fights and banter with each other and that's basically all they do which is so awesomesauce. Despite my personal feelings towards cops buddy cop yaoi is a guilty pleasure as well. FAKE is also a manga in which the entire cast not just the leads are very entertaining to read about. Bikky and Carol's relationship is cute, Diana is witty and clever, chief rose is a great wrench in between Dee and Ryo's relationship, and JJ is their dog who they abuse. Whenever I reread FAKE I'll always find myself thoroughly enjoying myself.

3) Sleeping Dead

    This is my personal favorite Harada work so far. Sada's loss of bodily autonomy at the hands of Mamiya is absolutely gripping. Mamiya's thoughts of ownership over Sada's body developing into a connection with him is handled very delicately as Harada allows Sada to have discomfort over Mamiya actions with himself exist at the same time as their mutual feelings without disvaluing either of his emotions. The desperation in the third act of the story is soul crushing but incredible. Sleeping Dead is able to show just how Harada's character writing. More misandrists need to write fiction because they are all such good writers. 

4) Alice the 101st

   You could say that this is definitely one of the less ambitious stories compared to some one this list HOWEVER. Alice the 101st is such a charming series. Despite it just being about a young musician who gets into a prestigous music academy despite not even knowing how to read sheet music, Chigusa Kawai is able to display a love a great understanding for classical music in this work. The first work I read from her, La Esperança, got me addicted to her character writing. Her bold personalities is my favorite part about her writing, and Alice is the perfect protagonist to really let that part of her writing shine. The ensemble cast are all memorable, especially as they interact, and usually critique Alice. However it actually breaks my heart that only 4 volumes are translated, and the translations of the third and fourth volume are so hard to get. I don't know if itll ever get picked up again, and i honestly high doubt it will, but regardless I can always hope.

5) Ask and You Will Recieve

    Shinobu and Hikaru are addicting. Shinobu is a seme whose opinions about Hikaru sometimes gets in the way of their relationship, but it always pairs really well with Hikaru's conceited nature. As Shinobu always has to pry what Hikaru wants for him, Hikaru also has to navigate Shinobu's dismissive attitude. While the two exact opposites fumble, learn, and improve with each other I can help but want to continue to read about them. Niyama's artstyle is a personal favorite, and she really knows how to draw attractive smut scenes too. Ill always make room for reread of ask and You Will Recieve even if I have a long backlog of books.

6) STAND BY ME

    Any Tokusatsu BL will have me invested by the first page, even so, STAND BY ME is such a pleasure to read. Amou is a short seme who is a toku actor who ends up meeting a toku fan Tatsunari, who struggles with his self esteem and being able to stand up for himself. Eventually, through his relationship with Amou he learns that he needs to have more self respect for not only himself, but for other people as well. While their height gap is one of my favorite parts, their dynamic as toku enthusiasts is so cute. Allowing Amou to bottom is actually gorgeous. Also Kyosho my goat does so much Dotsuitare Hompo art so by law I am required to do nothing but sing my praises for them.

7) Jealousy

     This is the only Scarlet Beriko work I have read but oml its so good. The suspense and plot draws out very similarly to a Quentin Tarintino movie, like the Russian roulette blowjob scene should've won an award. Uichi is very similar to Towa in which he constantly hangs in danger because the thrill he feels means that he capable of feeling. Akitora is just as strong as Uichi who only acts on instinct with a disregard for consequence. When they interact with each other its feels childish, despite the heavy atmosphere. The drama is so intense I struggled to read a lot of it at once through the first read. Her art is no less than gorgeous and absolutely elevates the narrative. her panelwork is incredible I really struggle to find flaws for this one.

8) Fangs

     Fangs physical presence is so stylish. Her full color spreads, and dynamic poses adds up to be a a visually expressive story. En being thrust into a very strict vampire society through sheer circumstance, and Ichii being his guide throughout it is executed well. You can feel them begin to care for each other deeper and deeper as the plot continues to unfold. It almost takes an episodic approach through the first two volumes that I personally really enjoy. Also they have lesbians in it so I love it.

9) MADK

    The character design alone is enough to cement this story as something special to me, but Makoto's drive to beat and win over J is encapsulating. Watching Makoto become integrated with demon society just to settle a grudge if that's even what their connection can be classified as. J, despite his elusive nature and objectively bad actions usually treats Makoto uncharacteristically nice and there is pleasantly nice interactions. The supporting cast is strong and feels involved with the central plot as well.

10) Dekoboko Sugar days

    These Highschool boys are so endering to me. Yuujirou is a short top so it tics off that box fkfkfkf. He is still in judo regardless of his stature. His childhood best friend Rui is tall and enjoys designing clothes. Watching Yuu stumble to hide his crush on Rui is adorable, and makes when they get together so sweet. This is basically if a butch/femme couple were yaoi. The sequel series is even better than the first as it spend a lot more time fleshing out their romantic dynamic as well as the coming of age aspects of the story. Both of the side stories are adorable as well.
