"1990-2009: Golden age The internet is a free place where everything is permitted and information flows freely. Everyone groups up into niches that contribute something to the online culture.

2009-2014: Silver age Corporations gain a foothold on the in the cyberspace, though this is mostly benign and harmless. Business continues mostly as usual, though things become more curated and sterile.

2015-2017: Edgelord era Cringe culture and the rise of creators like Filthy Frank and LeafyIsHere combined with the rise of the online right lead to corporations censoring the internet en masse. Online freedom declines at a dramatic rate.

2018-2021: The dark age Corporations and government completely control the internet and all online speech, even on other websites. No form of negative expression is allowed, propaganda is pushed 24/7, and you are stripped of all anonymity.

????-???? The uncertain age Only you can decide what comes next." - Random YouTube Commentator
