hi, if you're a fellow sucker for nostalgia and want to play some old playstation games on your modern device, here's a tutorial! it's actually pretty easy, but i figured someone might find this helpful. (all websites and files are safe)
emulator for ps1
1. download the duckstation emulator at https://duckstation.org/windl, make sure to download the zip file.
2. once downloaded, extract the zip folder.
3. download a ps1 bios at https://fantasyanime.com/index, it's called SCPH1001.bin.
4. once the bios is downloaded, extract it as well.
5. create a new folder on your desktop, it's where you'll be putting your game files.
6. install the duckstation emulator in your downloaded duckstation folder.
7. once it launches, you have to insert the bios in 'bios image'. click on 'open in explorer', it will open the bios file.
8. copy the bios you've downloaded and paste it into the opened bios file.
9. go back to the emulator and click on 'refresh list'. you will now see your inserted bios there and tap 'next'.
10. in 'game directories', choose the new folder you've created.
11. click 'next' on the other set up screens, then press 'finish'. this will take you to the duckstation main page.
12. go to a site where you can download the games for your emulator, i recommend https://vimm.net. choose a game and download it.
13. once downloaded, extract the files. copy the extracted files (ending in .cue, .chd or .bin) into the folder you created.
14. in the duckstation emulator, click on 'scan for new games'
15. now your game will show in the emulator and will be fully functioning. the last thing you're gonna do is set up controllers, audio, graphics etc. according to your liking.
emulator for ps2
1. download the PCSX2 emulator at https://fantasyanime.com/index.
2. once downloaded, extract the zip folder.
3. download a ps2 bios at https://fantasyanime.com/index, it's called pcsx2_bio._ip.
4. once downloaded, change the '._ip' to '.zip' and extract the zip file.
5. again, you're gonna create a new folder for your games.
6. install the pcsx2 emulator in your extracted pcsx2 file, a page very similar to the duckstation one will pop up.
7. again, you're gonna copy the pcsx2 bios and paste it into the bios folder, refresh the list and click on next.
8. you're gonna choose the folder you made for your ps2 games in the 'game directories'.
9. click 'next' on the other set up screens and then click on 'finish'. the main page of the emulator will load.
10. download a game for ps2 (https://vimm.net), extract the file and copy it into your games folder. then, click on 'scan for new games' in the emulator.
11. your game is now showing in your emulator, again, you're gonna set up the controllers, graphics, audio etc. according to your liking.
hope this will help someone. feel free to ask about anything!
