Hi guysss! Welcome to my blog, how are we? Definitely doing better than my digital footprint rn I hope. 

This is the first entry of a series that I'm calling THE LIFE OF A POSER. Because I'm gonna be talking about my life and I am a poser soooo..... it seemed pretty fitting. 

First thing you gotta learn about me and my life is that I am obsessed with makeup, I have been playing with it since I was 13 and been getting awkward stares since. I love to experiment so yeah, some experiments dont work, some work, it's life.

That is the only makeup tutorial I've ever actually watched and I've been experimenting since cuz I'm a free thinker. 

So, what's a better topic to start with my SpaceHey blog than me sharing my years of make up wisdom with you? That's right, none. So let's get right to it. 

Alt makeup 101:

You're overwhelmed, you're tired of never looking good enough, tired of that fucking wing taking a piece of your sanity every time you go to erase it and draw it again. You might cry too, the desire to tear your skin apart out of spite for yourself just increasing. 

Oh, you're not? Okay ig that's just me....

Well, if an eyeliner doesn't overwhelm you then you don't need to hear this, so go to the next header. 

If it does, please stay, because you need to understand that alt fashion is all about being overwhelmed by societal standards of perfection and finding your own definition of perfection, and perfection can be whatever empowers you and does not overwhelm you. 

The first time I put eyeliner like Ronnie Radke it looked absolute shit, so I started doing wings, and altho i looked pretty, I wasn't achieving that alternative look I was after, plus I was wasting a lot of time to make them look identical, I was late to school sometimes because of it. 

I gave up entirely on eyeliner wings a year ago prob and started diving into eyeshadows and stuff, I was still struggling a lot because I was still after a specific look I wasnt being able to recreate on my face. But giving up on wings was the best choice I could make, it saved me lots of time and my makeup routine became fun with all the brushes and colors, not to mention eyeshadow is easier to erase when making a mistake. 

So yeah, bottom lie, makeup should be fun, not overwhelm you. 

And about the alt look I was after, I eventually found it by experimenting a lot and in the meantime I went through a bunch of other alt looks, so now I will guide you through a bunch of them so you can try them and hopefully find the one you enjoy the most. 

N.1 Emo/Grunge eye makeup: 

This I wouldn't consider it beginner friendly but it is quite easy, there's just the danger for beginners to look like a racoon. 

The easy bit is that this make up is literally A MESS, emos cry too much to have a perfect make up and grunge girls simply dont gaf. Some hardcore bitches can pull this off with ONE EYE PENCIL. Cuz real baddies are too broke for makeup but still manage to cook. 

I'm not a baddie.

So here's a list of what I use personally: 

-Maybelline NY Colossal Kajal (Kajal is an alt person's best friend, so go get your kajal bitch) 

-Astra jumpo Eyeshadow (Black, so creamyyyy perfect to blend for that smoky eye) 

-M.A.C brushstroke 24-hour liner

-The first brush i can lay my hands on (as long as the bristles are a bit compact, the other ones are used to blend colors together while we're just moving the black around and need more precision than that) 

-Lash curler, mascara, and one small cluster of no-glue falsies per eye (optional, I do it to achieve a more effeminate look but it's up to you and I don't have a specific brand suggestion for any of these) 

Total cost (optionals excluded): 46.35€ + brush which cant be more than 10 tbh 

These products all together last me a year so I don't mind the purchase, but, say you dont have any money for whatever reason, I would 100% put my trust in Astra since it's a low-cost brand and works so well. If you're not in Europe idk how to help you for these choices, but generally there's similar products all over the world. 

For this make up, familiarise with your eye shape and follow it, don't try to be someone you're not, you'll look 10 times better by just letting the black go where it naturally goes. Don't be afraid to smudge the kajal under your eyes too, but to avoid the panda/racoon (IF you wanna avoid it) try to put more black on the outer side of the eye away from the nose, the more you go towards the nose the lighter you should go, which is why a lot of people put white highlighter there. 

In this case I personally put a lot of jumpo eyeshadow on my upper lid and then smudge it in an outwards direction with a brush, but in other cases i avoid blending it much as it's a perfect base for more complex makeups, allowing me to have deep black around my eye while colors still have fun, allowing a piercing cateye look regardless of what I do. 

The mac eyeliner is just a thin layer over my lashes, the jumpo eyeshadow has a very deep black color but since it's jumbo and smudges too I use the eyeliner to make sure everything is black around the eye in a more precise way.

Make sure the kajal goes EVERYWHERE inside the eye, I personally just put the black tip over my lower lid, close the eye and swing it around applying pressure on both lids. Always be delicate, it shouldn't hurt. If you feel more tired than usual over the day, it might be that you're slightly allergic to that kajal and you should try another brand. I love the maybelline one because is the only one I'm not allergic to. 

Orrrrrr feel welcome to put some jumpo eyeshadow everywhere and rub your eyes. That also works.

Gerard Way Variant: rub some cool-toned red eyeshadow with your fingers before doing any make up step, I like to use the wine-toned eyeshadow from the Diego Dalla Palma Nuda Pink Palette but it's a bit expensive, any red eyeshadow will do as long as its cool toned. Make it as messy as possible, feel free to go over it again with a blending brush when the make up is done. For this variant I also suggest a primer, or any substance that will make the eyeshadow stick better to the eye. Also you might get some eyeshadow flakes down on your cheeks during the process, I keep a clean brush to sweep them away but you're also welcome to clean your face with a face cleanser avoiding the forehead and eye area to preserve the makeup. 

N.2 TikTok "goth" baddie eye makeup:

We've all saw this, I only got two things to tell you:

1) Social media is fake

2) This make up is 25% eyeliner wings 25% white highlighter 25% fake eyelashes 25% filters 

That's all you need, for a white highlighter I think any white glitter eyeshadow can do, but I also have a pencil, the Morphe white bi-liner has been really good to me. And for the fake eyelashes I don't have a specific brand but I much prefer no-glue clusters which are much easier to manage. And for the eyeliner wings...I've already suggested the M.A.C eyeliner but if you're planning to do wings on a daily basis just get a low-cost brand cuz you're gonna use A LOT of eyeliner. I got nothing to suggest for that sadly cuz i just kept wasting money on more M.A.C or Clinique. Please be better than me. 

White highlight on the inside part of the eye, maybe some kajal on the upper lid for a deeper look, some mascara to fit the falsies clusters and then play around with some references and find a wing shape that suits you. Actually, do wing first and everything else later, it's a laborious process that might require wiping everything away and restart.  

N.3 Goth eye makeup:

I'm getting tired of writing ts omg im such a yapper, anyway. I am still searching for a good white foundation so, PLEASE TELL ME if you find something good for acne-prone skin. Meanwhile I just use the lightest shade of the Tirtir korean foundation, and...I can't stress this enough

ELF STICKY PRIMER

is a GODSEND to all the goth girlies out there, your base will not move. 

For the eye make up I use the same products I listed up there, a few extras are the kiko Milano Velvette passion matte lipstick which is black lipstick and an eyeliner pencil, since a black lip liner is impossible to find, but really i dont have any suggestions for that just use whatever BUT dont use the same eyeliner pencil for your eyes AND lips, that's nasty. 

For the makeup itself, I suggest you pull up a reference from pinterest, sketch whatever you wanna do with some black eyeshadow and a fine brush and then go over it with your eyeliner of choice, most goth girls suggest the Elf eyeliner but I'm allergic to is so rip. 

Every other makeup of mine is an iteration of these three with fun colors from my palettes. The palettes I use the most are from the NUDE series of Diego Dalla Palma, Dead to me makeup palette by Palaye Royale and the Glaze Tinting eyeshadow palettes from Gogo Tales, their black eyeshadow is so good. So have fun trying those out! 

Andddd I guess that's it...

Now you know how a poser does her make up to be as close as possible to the people that are actually good at it. And, friendly reminder all of this is just suggestions, there are no rules in make up so do whatever you want and most importantly explore.

P.s. when you do any type of make up, don't do one eye and then the other, do something on one eye and do the same thing right after to the other. That should help them even out. Andddd if you have green eyes PLEASE try out some pink around your eyes in your lifetime, it will make them really pop since green and pink are complementary colors.
