I long for better representation of jocks and populars girls in teen-movies

I have found that in the vast majority of movies, the "jocks" and the "popular girls" aren't realistic at all. And I do understand that a movie does not need to be realistic, but a few seem to try only to misunderstand a good part of their characters.

I think this is due to the fact that most people in the movie industry were art kids, either theathre kids or band kids or other type of arts. And coincidentally, those people weren't really popular. Jocks are depicted as dumb kid who are always fighting and end up in detention everyday, they usually have bad grades too. Of course, some of them are like this, but I found it to be un-realistic that all of them are depicted like this. The whole 'they're so dumb and have bad grades and they get no-where in life' depiction just pass for art kids being bitter and depicting them in a negative way as revenge. I'm not saying that they are usually top students, but they're not the worst either, they usually need to be ok or good in a few classes. (And also I do believe that a student that is bad at all of their classes, where they can't get a single good grades in something else than P.E, had probably been failed by the system somewhere along the lines, maybe because of a learning disability or a focus problem or a lack of help during their development but that's for another blog).

And the same goes for the 'popular girls' trope. Usually depicted as boy-focused, un-intelligent, chatty, bratty etc... And I feel they're even more misrepresented then jocks, and I do believe it's partly or even mostly due to misogyny. It's doesn't really matter if the characters are created by a misogynistic man or a women with internalized mysogyny. I can't even count the number of times where the 'popular' girls are refered to or implied to be whores. News flash! They're teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18. Calling them sluts IS weird. 

All because they have the reputation to have had multiple boyfriends during highschool? Yeah, news flash, teenagers are going to experiment with love! That's normal! Just as it is normal to prefer to wait before comitting to a relationship when you're a teenager, it's normal to also experience it. And being in different relationships over the span of 4 years when you're in an always changing era of your life where you not only disciver others but also yourself, isn't weird!

And from personal opinions as someone who went to three different highschools, the 'populars girls' in real life are usually popular for a reason. If every body hated them they wouldn't be popular. The thruth is most of the time they do or have dones good or at least fun actions that made the populars. Even if it's not something producers see as 'good' or 'groundbreaking'. But yeah, that girl who made cupcakes for her classmates, or just finds a way to talk to people and relate to them or just, who makes a lot of fun discussion with other people IS going to be more popular. And if all of the girls who do this are in a friend group, then yes they are going to be even more popular. 

Of course there are some highschools where the populars girls are mini-Regina Georges. But in a lot of case they're not. They're regular girls who happen to be really good at socializing with a majority of people. (Which may exclude the group of art kids because most of the time they are a minority and have a hard time socializing). 

A lot of movie depicting popular girls just seems like bitter producers trying to bring teenage girls down for either misplaced revenge purposes or internalized misogyny. And I wish it wasn't the case. I wish more movies ditched the 'selfish evil teenage girl who has always been and will always be evil' and brought more nuance to those characters.

Because as much as creating tropes of student for a movie is fun, and need less development for each characters, it alienate a good percents of watcher because they're just going to be depicted as evil or dumb or sluts for no reason.
