Cat

I wanted to have a cat soooooooooo bad omg. I have begged by parents to get a cat for like 3 years now and they refuse because it's a big responsibility (which is true) but they talk about getting a dog all the time (which they also don't get for the same reason). Like I don't understand why it's unreasonable for them to even IMAGINE having a pet cat and not a pet dog?? We had 2 dogs previously and one of them was a double-coat German Shepherd and there were a lot of things we had to do to take care of him. Somehow doing that again seems reasonable to my family but not a cat, significantly less work compared to a dog. They also just don't generally like cats as much as me. I also started liking cats a few years ago. We were all pretty anti up until a few years ago but seeing cute cats on Instagram has transformed me into a catpilled catcel lol! Even my mother and brother like them now, not nearly enough to my liking but more than before. I also live in a country where cats are a rare event to see, it's usually all dogs here. There was a cat shelter like 3 hours away from my home but in college I volunteered with them with some friends and they fucked us over majorly and we had a major falling out so I can't even go there to play with them :__( Still we have had several opportunities to adopt a cat from friends or people we know but my mom refuses, saying that I have to take care of it, which is totally fair. That's the part that makes me sad because I can't even take care of myself. I can barely make it out of the bed everyday so taking care of an animal seems like taking care of a toddler level of difficulty. I really wanted one but it's out of the question for me now. And I know people say that I can always get one later or whenever I move out and I can't tell them why that's not possible. That's a thing for another day. For now this will be one of those actually-surprisingly-still-alive desires in my heart that I will never get to fulfill.
