Coworkers

Does anyone else find it hard to work with coworkers who cannot take criticism?

I work in a lead position, and a coworker of mine takes any sort of comment I make about her work performance as a personal attack. I posted a message to our work group chat asking everyone to not leave open drinks on the desk, as somebodies starbucks had spilled and was dripping onto our work supplies. It happened to be her drink and she came up to me while I was on break to accuse me of sending that message as an attack on her. I just didn't want anyone to make the same mistake.

These types of coworkers make it so hard to work with them.

Unfortunately this is so common. Even among jobs that are much higher stakes you still have to navigate egos and personalities like this.

Sometimes I find to deal with these people I frame what I need them to do as a question to give them the feeling of executive power even though I just fed them the line. Regardless they feel good about making the "decision" despite there only being one logical outcome lol.

There's always going to be difficult people to work with, we just have to try not to let it get to us. At the end of the day, we're just here for a paycheque.

I might have to try rephrasing how I go about giving feedback, see how well your way works in my work environment.

That is a good way to look at it. It isn't about the cards we are dealt but how we respond to them.

I am curious to see how that will go.

Here is a good wall of text video about that may help. I timestamped the relevant subject.
