Also want to clarify this was a comment i made under a video about how "gen alpha is cooked" by haylo hayley, so it is kind of random. i tried changing some things, but i kept most of what i said untouched. Also i would appreciate if someone corrects my english in case they find something wrong, since i only learn english from school and by myself, i hope it isn't too unbearable to read.
Gen z ends in 2012 and gen alpha starts in 2013, based on information before 2023
For some reason after 2024 a lot of gen z's born in 2009 did not want to accept the fact that there are bad kids in their generation (which is kind of ironic because i know 2006 kids that had tablets and ipads.. soo gen z DID have ipad kids) and started saying gen z ends in 2009 (which fun fact the first ipad came out in 2010, so i think cutting short a whole gen by 3 years just because apple released a product that was used a lot by spoiled kids is a tad unfair).
So yeah if you search now when gen alpha starts.. it kind of a mess, some sources say 2010 some say 2013 (the correct one).
In the end i know that it really doesn't matter, but oh god does it matter when you were in a so called community of people that had similar childhoods to yours, and suddenly you're thrown into a gen that is constantly being hated at because you were born ONE year after gen z supposedly ends
"You were an ipad addicted braindead child" But my first console was the wii, i watched dvds on a crt in my room and the only tablet i ever touched was in 2018, and it was a samsung one that had a cracked screen and would scratch my fingers-"WE DONT CARE, WE KNOW MORE ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD, YOU ARE A BRAINROTTED TIKTOK USER THAT SPEAKS IN SLANG AND CANT WRITE WITHOUT CHAT GPT" But i hate generative ai, i have deleted tiktok since 2023, and dont even get the slang younger kids speak- "NOOOO, YOU MUST BURN YOU GEN ALPHA 2011 KID"
You see what i mean? if there wasn't SO MUCH HATE on gen alphas, then i wouldn't even care when i was called a gen alpha all of a sudden. But at this point, it is an instult. And i mostly say it also because for years i was considered by everyone a gen z, and suddenly i'm in this weird year where gen alphas won't accept me, gen z's wont accept me.. at this point 2010,2011,2012 are a generation of their own. And from my own experience i want to say that i know 2009 kids that are WAY WORSE than older gen alpha kids (13-12) so in my opinion it's SOME of the millenial parents (my parents are gen x- close to boomers) because even my gen x aunt that has a gen alpha son, he is an active kid that isn't addicted on his screen. My millenial aunt though, well they aren't like what they make gen alpha seem to be, but there is a difference in their behaviour. Although still, i know a kid their age that was the KINDEST KID EVER, so calm, careful of other's toys (now that i think about that kid, he reminds me of people who smoke marijuana..sorry random kid). But still, it is NEVER the kids fault for how they act, and i want a lot of gen z's to realize that, we are making years like zodiacs to stereotype how an individual is. And i find that wrong.
The only thing i can agree on is for example, if someone was born in the late 90s-early 00s. people from those years are going to have very similar childhoods, same with in my opinion late 00s- early 010s kids, me and my 2006 sister have almost identical childhoods aside from the fact that gen ai became more popular when she was in highschool, while i'll have to endure its usage for 3 more years before i also finish school. Or me and my 2008 best friend, WE HAVE SCARILY IDENTICAL CHILDHOODS. So i do believe that where you were born takes a big part (greece and we are kind of late to everything, so maybe that's why i had a childhood close to 00s kids), AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE PARENTS.
Sorry for my babbling. But i want this to be under topics such as these that are mostly like "gen alpha doesn't know how to read, gen alpha is cooked" because i do feel bad for a lot of gen alphas that aren't like these kids, yet are being indirectly hated at. I mostly kind of empathy with them because i want people to start hearing it the same as someone saying "lgbtq people are freaks and sick in the head, autistic people are dumb and (stereotype)" because like.. no? as both things, i can say that. I'm human, love is love. And autism is a spectrum, so to those uneducated people, do research is what i advise you to do.
Same as these stereotypes, gen alpha for me is a group of very different people, and i dont think we should keep saying "EVERY CHILD BORN AFTER 2009 IS A SCREEN ADDICT" i know most people dont mean that when they say "gen alpha is _" but i get those gen alphas seeing the name of their generation being run over by every other generation. I swear gen x and millenials did not hate (us) gen z's THAT much. Sure they called us lazy and that we were on our phones a lot, but unable to read at all, lacking basic knowledge and being so dumb that we need a machine to do everything for us? Jesus..
Yet even when we didn't like being called these thigns by older generations, why are we doing the same thing AND EVEN WORSE now with making youtube videos more accessable. We supposedly promised that we wouldn't make the mistakes of the ones that came before us.
So, why are we repeating the cycle of hating the new generation?.
Sorry for continuing my babbling with even more babbling.. babbling, i like that word.
But i do want to hear other people's opinions, especially gen alphas that are jailed forever in this generation (2013 and younger) because at least from 2010 to 2012, you have that loophole where at this point NO ONE KNOWS what generation we are. And i mostly also want to hear the opinions of older gen z's and millenials/ gen x/ or even boomers why not
